I know some of the albums are more thrash than death, but I added them anyway, because I guess they could appeal to death metal fans too. Many of the albums are not so well-known, but I prefer them over the classics. If you have any other suggestions of underground albums you think I could enjoy based on my choices, you can suggest me.

In Flames - Clayman
This was the first extreme metal I got into, so I have a special relation to it, but I still think it's the perfect combination with melodies and aggression. It is debatable if this could be accepted as death metal, though, and this is the last In Flames album I include on the list, although I love "Reroute To Remain" too. |

Melodic, but not too melodic and not in a Gothenburg-vein. A fast album with a dark atmosphere without use of keyboards. |
