There is a lot of punk rock and hardcore punk on their early albums, and also on the two albums succeeding this release. Here though -- also on the predecessor -- they are experimenting with thrash metal. And this is progressive thrash metal if you ask me. It is in fact remarkably progressive for 1986. This is a good album, their best I would say. Vocals drag it down a bit.
