I don't know how much credibility a band can have if they make an album that's packed with lyrics that talk about raping dead girls, or about smashing some random guy's face with a hammer. Now the most popular Cannibal Corpse song rest in this album along with the bloodiest lyrics in their history. This album is at least more technical than "Butchered At Birth" and "Eaten Back To Life" the music here is a little more complex and better elaborated, the effort is shown in songs like "Hammer Smashed Face"(cannibal Corpse most popular song) with maddening and unforgettable riffs, a crushing bass playing, and incredibly fast drumming. and "I Cum Blood" showing incredible pulsations, here the guitars are no longer played arbitrarily like in "Eaten Back To Life" where the guitar sounded incredibly poor with no textures or good difficult solos. Loved this album, i don't why people hate this band so much, there vocals are supererb, and the bass in hammer smashed face, just orgazmic.

The cover art is sick and vile and pushes the boundaries, but I guess that's what makes it iconic. The lyrics are very sick, but all for fun I guess  because I'm a total idiot, and I enjoy fantasising about smashing a hammer in someone's face, and spliting them wide open obviously  As for the music it's self, it's ok, classic headbanging grooves, and death metal as brutal as it gets. I can't say I'm fond of the vocals though, there's being harsh and then there's just this (over the top). It's not a masterpiece musically by any means, but it makes death metalheads headbang their way to oblivion, which is the aim I suppose.

Another great death metal album ruined by the vocals. I wouldn’t mind Corpsegrinder’s unrelenting grumbling if not for the lack of variation through the majority of the album.
