Two (international) albums in and already blazing a trail across the rock genre, AC/DC offer up their most savage album yet in Let There Be Rock, turning up the power and going into full-on attack mode.

The band crafted this album to be their answer to the then-emerging punk rock scene; Let There Be Rock is more garage rock than punk rock, turning the guitars up to the max and allowing the volume to distort the sound. If the band felt threatened by punk, then they reply by wielding their guitars like clubs and smashing the listener over the head with them. If you are a fan of clean and precise music, then Let There Be Rock isn't for you; it revels in its primal sound that serves to drive much of the songs.

Overdose of AC/DC

what's wrong with this album that you rate it a "5"? 5 means you think it's not good, below average. Please do explain.

Quite a fun album to listen to, even though the two weakest tracks here (in my opinion) are the opening two, which seem to be repetitive and boring. Nonetheless, the title track and whole lotta rosie more than make up for this.

I personally feel there is no bad Bon Scott material. He was one of the all-time great frontmen. Let There be Rock is another classic but gets kind of lost in the shuffle when Highway to Hell and/or Back in Black were so huge.

Typical early AC/DC album, good but not exceptional.

Damn greta album whit greta drumming in perfect rhythm, just insane, Dave Lomnardo and others fromn today can learn how do it in the rhythm and I herad Ac/Dc records old way, all instruments same time, not as today and even then one by one and then vocals, this band do all in one time, dunno if its true or not
Surprise, it was long since last time I walk trought this band disco and song 1,5,6 ausie version was unknown to me so far

I kind of skipped this album in the early years, because I had the If You Want Blood You've Got It -live and when it comes to listening to IYWBYGI and LTBR I most often have gone with the former option. The album isn't bad per se, it's just pretty generic AC/DC, too familiar sounding and doesn't have much variety in songs. The title song is very good, and I find Dog Eat Dog and Whole Lotta Rosie as other strong tracks here. I can't but feel little bit of letdown by this album, I think it's overrated too when I see the ratings and some people even say that this the best from the Bon era. I'd say it's probably the weakest, but still it's alright and can be enjoyed but not too often IMO.

Every few months I go through an AC/DC binge.

For me everything up to and including Back In Black are 10/10, but this and Powerage are my favourite AC/DC albums. Let There Be Rock is arguably their most primal rock 'n' roll album, and Powerage is their most soulful and bluesy album.

They hit their commercial groove with Highway to Hell and Back In Black but they're not the albums I turn to first.

but this and Powerage are my favourite AC/DC albums.

This is also my favourite AC/DC album, followed by High Voltage and Back in Black with a draw for the second rank.

Some classic AC/DC songs here such as "Let There Be Rock", "Bad Boy Boogie", "Problem Child", "Hell Ain't A Bad Place To Be", and "Whole Lotta Rosie". The other 3 songs not quite as good imo, but it's still overall one of their best. I have to say I've always much preferred the Bon Scott era to Johnson with the exception on Back In Black, my top 5 being:

1. Powerage
2. Back In Black
3. Let There Be Rock
4. High Voltage
5. Highway To Hell

The only one I tend to listen to these days though is If You Want Blood You've Got It.

Highway To Hell probably gets the nod from me as their best. Honestly I still think AC/DC is a fantastic rock band, even considering a lot of their material can get a bit same-y.
