Yes Deafheaven are clearly not straight shoegaze but the shoegaze part of their sound is very prevalent while in Deftones' case it's just one of several influences, that's what I was trying to say

Speaking of Deafheaven's sound, Dreamcrush is creeping its way into my personal top 10 of 2026. Great album, also on the heavier side from a pure Shoegaze perspective, but it scratches that itch really well.
