Biography
ODIOUS was founded in 1998 in Alexandria - EGYPT, after Bassem Fakhri (Vocals and Synths) and Rami Magdi (Drums), put their way to create a new metal feeling with oriental instruments. Shortly, Ramzi Mayas (Bass) and Mohamed Hassan (All Guitars) were added to this line-up. Unfortunately Ramzi had to leave the band for some personal reasons, but the band was lucky enough then to have Alfi Hayati as the band's new bassist. In 2005, Mohamed Lameen has finalized this line-up as the rhythm guitarist. Every member has got his own ideas which were gathered to create the feeling that can bound the five members into one soul.
In 2000 the band recorded an - unreleased - demo and it was oriental doom metal with black metal influences. After that, the band decided to unleash their energy by changing their style into pure oriental black metal. Their second release, a mini-cd entitled Summoned By Night was self- released in 2003 and it was widely distributed in Egypt. The demo received great reviews and more than respectful feedback which helped in making a huge fan base in Egypt.
ODIOUS has signed a deal with the Greek record label Sleaszy Rider Records on June 20, 2005 and released their first full length album entitled Mirror Of Vibrations in July 2007.
"Due to certain circumstances Mohamed Lameen had to leave the band and shortly Ezz El-Din replaced him as the band's rhythm guitarist. Ezz El-Din as a new member was full of energy but unfortunately the band then was so inactive and entered the hibernation mode, due to the absence of Rami Magdi (one of two founders and main member in the band) and the other members' lack of passion. After many failed attempts to have the band alive again, Basem Fakhry, the composer and the driving force behind ODIOUS has decided to release all the remaining members from their duties and take the band up to the next level. In 2012 George Boulos, who has added his own touch to the music, has joined the band as the drummer and the only permanent member besides Basem. George's Passion and dedication was the most needed thing for ODIOUS to continue what they were doing.
The band has signed to The Leader Records, who released their new album, Skin Age, November 2015.
