Biography
At the beginning of 1998, Falagar, the founder and only member of Rivendell, started to compose his own songs. At the end of 1998 the limited edition demo, Poems of Mountains and Forests, was released. This demo received a lot of very good reviews in the press and soon various labels showed their interest.
Finally, Rivendell signed a three-contract album with Skaldic Art.
In the middle of 1999, the recordings for the debut album, The Ancient Glory, started at the famous Klangschmiede Studio E, where also bands such as Empyrium recorded their albums with producer Markus Stock (Empyrium), who also played the session drums. An impressive, powerful sound was created, which fulfilled the demands of a folk/black metal album of such quality. The Ancient Glory deals with the fictional Middle-Earth in the tradition of J.R.R. Tolkien ("Lord of the Rings"). Folkloric melodies and mighty metal, supported by flutes, choirs, and clear vocals, are the basis of an enjoyable but demanding album.
