It's been 18 years since Entombed released their most recent studio album Serpent Saints - The Ten Amendments, but the band just announced that they are now in the studio working on a new record which will see half of the original lineup (guitarists Alex Hellid and Ulf Cederlund and drummer Nicke Andersson) reunited. It is not known who the vocalist of the album will be, but it will mark Entombed's first since 1991's Clandestine not to feature longtime vocalist L-G Petrov, who passed away back in 2021.

The ongoing dispute between members of the Swedish metal band Entombed over the rights to the group's brand name continues with a new chapter. Earlier this month, the Swedish Patent And Registration Office rejected Entombed frontman Lars-Göran "LG" Petrov's bid to stop guitarist Alex Hellid's trademark registration to sell beverages under the Entombed moniker. The singer is currently touring and releasing albums under the moniker of Entombed A.D.. Basically, Alex Hellid can sell beverages under the band name.

Entombed has apparently split into two separate bands. Back To The Front, the new album that was recorded last year by four members of the most recent lineup of the legendary Swedish metal act, LG Petrov, Nico Elgstrand, Olle Dahlstedt and Victor Brand, and recorded with Roberto Laghi, will come out under the name Entombed A.D.. Furthermore, it was announced that frontman LG Petrov will only perform with Entombed A.D. and not take part of any upcoming shows announced under the name Entombed. Back To The Front is now being scheduled for a spring release after several delays.

Swedish metallers Entombed will release their new album, "Serpent Saints - The Ten Amendments", later in the year through Threeman Recordings via a special arrangement with Candlelight Records. The 10-song effort will mark the group's first release with drummer Olle Dahlstedt (Alpha Safari, ex-Misery Loves Co.), who replaced Peter Stjärnvind in 2006.

Commented the band: "We're mixing right now and the devil is smiling. Yesterday we got final mixes on the songs 'In The Blood' and 'The Dead, The Dying And The Dying To Be Dead' with top man Soren Elofsson at the console. He's helping us tweak the mix and will most likely master the beast at Cosmos Mastering, Stockholm, Sweden, later this month.

"So, where are we coming from on this album? Same place as always. Always the one constant . . . something from the cunt/cock and something for the clock, i.e. something for the gray between the ears and something for the primal forces below the waist and possibly something for the spot a little off centre in the chest.

"Musically "Serpents Saints" goes wider and deeper than the "When In Sodom" EP but it's a pretty good indicator. It's no concept album but an ambitious attempt at creating a solid album with some reoccurring themes. Almost like the sound track to the film with the same name. Get the picture? You don't need to.

"Without getting too philosophical and/or, God forbid, preachy, who the fuck needs that? "Serpent Saints" on one plane deals with serpents (snakes, devils) and saints and how to separate the two. Can you? Are they the same, like most things and people, both good and bad depending on . . the weather and quantity and most importantly ? on which side of the fence you are positioned. God and bad and/or positively evil. Most things/people are definitely both, and most in denial and/or ignorance ? bliss, they say. Get it? Or should we Ying-yang you some more? No. Fuck meaning and fuck truth and shake your butt, or don't

"It's definitely not no doomsday prophecy of how the world is coming to an end boring bullshit. Humans have been pretty much the same for as long as we know. Once born we eat, shit, piss, fuck, play video games and die and since basic instincts are hard to break, probably will be for as long as we're here. We [are] all winners, how strange it may sound, that start from zero and go as far as we can in the 100 years, or less, we're dealt before moving on to become a plant/angel/cow/worm (depending on belief) and/or some new kid who rolls into town to reinvent the wheel, again. So what else is new? Not much. Not You. Not me. Everybody knows! So far, so good, so what?! (Great title. Taken?) ? What's what? We say, enjoy the chaos!"

The previously announced Entombed/Dismember/Grave "The Absence North American" tour, which was scheduled to take place December 1-16, is now officially cancelled.

Entombed posted the following on the bands official myspace page:

'Due to circumstances beyond our control Entombed sadly has had to postpone their upcoming USA West Coast trek.

We were very much looking forward to this tour, but conflicts with the promotor, breach of trust and straight up lies have unfortunately forced us to cancel at the eleventh hour. Never in 15 years of touring the States has this happened, which really is saying something. We are appalled, and you should not be surprised if you see/hear more lies spread about how it is Entombed's fault that we could not do the tour because we changed our minds or some shit like that. Simply not true. We've never seen blame passed around like this ever before and deeply regret having lent our name to this madness.

We abominally want to apologise to good folks like Dinis of The Mighty Nimbus, who have taken time off work and rented a car to come see the show, but look forward to hitting American shores in 2007, hot on the heels of our upcoming studio album release, "Serpent Saints".'

Swedish metallers Entombed have issued the following update:

"The 'When In Sodom' EP was extremely well received, more than any other Entombed record, boosting both interest and sales in Europe, so we thank each and every one who got their hands on a copy.

"'When In Sodom' is yet to be released in Scandinavia,(September 18) and USA, (November 14) to coincide with the west coast dates with Grave and Dismember, 1-16 December. We need to get those extra kicks in to pave the way before we unleash the highly anticipated full length studio album ? 'Serpent Saints'. In the meantime, Entombed will tour Scandinavia and USA on the EP; in November the mighty Masters Of Death tour will pulverize Europe, and then we will launch the masterpiece in February/March 2007. It will be worth the wait!"

In other side, the band's new album was recorded at Soundland studio in Upplands Väsby, Sweden. The CD is the group's first without the contributions of guitarist Uffe Cederlund, who left the band in September 2005.
