Adagio - Sign With Listenable Records

French metallers Adagio have inked a deal with Listenable Records for their release of their new album, "Archangels In Black", tentatively due in February 2009.

According to a press release, "Archangels In Black", first CD to feature Adagio's latest addition, Finnish singer Christian Palin. features an absolutely new portrait of the band, keeping the essence of what makes it's personality but in a more direct and heavier way: "Our respective lives and the band are inseparable, and as a consequence, whichever way we're personally evolving slightly transforms Adagio." The CD was masteted at the Cutting Room in Sweden with Björn Engelmann (Rammstein, Meshuggah). According to guitarist Stéphan Forté, "Björn did an amazing job. The result is heavy as fuck and makes the songs even more powerful! We're a 110% happy with the result."

Novembers Doom - Parts Ways With Drummer, Replacement Announced

Novembers Doom have issued the following statement on their MySpace blog:

"Due to reasons both personal and musical, we regret to announce the departure of drummer Joe Nunez. Joe was an integral part of Novembers Doom for nearly ten years, and while his presence and camaraderie will be missed, unfortunately the time had come to part ways. We wish Joe all the best with whatever personal and musical endeavors he pursues in the future.

We are however pleased to announce that we have already secured a new drummer to fill the vacant drum throne. Returning to the band is Sasha Horn, who last recorded with Novembers Doom on the sophomore release, "Of Sculptured Ivy And Stone Flowers." Sasha's drumming style fits into the new material perfectly, and with this addition, comes a new dynamic and a step forward in musical progression.

The writing process for our seventh release is well under way, and we will enter the studio in early 2009, for a summer release. The musical direction is a return to the darker feeling of "The Pale Haunt Departure" while maintaining the aggression from "The Novella Reservoir" with many new surprises to keep things interesting. The cover art is complete, and we'll unveil it as well as the CD title soon enough."

Detonation - Permanent Drummer Announced

Even though certain media already beat us to it:

We are very proud and excited to announce that Michiel van der Plicht (ex Prostitute Disfigurement, Toxocara) has decided to join Detonation permanently. We are positive that his skills will help bring the band to a new and even more powerful level.
A week ago, we started practicing the new songs in the practice space. Apart from being a big challenge to play it sounds like we're writing some of our most intense and brutal (not to mention fastest) stuff ever.

So we welcome our beer drinking drum machine with open arms and bad livers.

See ya,

Mike on behalf of Detonation.

Life's Decay - New Album Out Now

Life's Decay's fifth album has just been released, it is entitled "Eklaasera" and it has the particularity to be full acoustic. You can listen to some mp3 from this release at http://www.lifesdecay.com or at http://www.myspace.com/abstraktsens.

A picture of the cover art can be found here.

A little description of Life's Decay "Eklaasera" reads as follows: "Eklaasera" is Life's Decay fifth album. It has the particularity of being made of acoustic recordings only. This is a real evolution in the music of the duo. Around ten classical and acoustic instruments were used to make this album such as a piano, cello, violin, guitar, trumpet, accordion, bass, chime and various percussions and experimental sounds.

A lot of work has been made on the percussion and on the sound researchs in order to create particular and unique rythms whether from a music box mecanism or from some large drums, from glass ringings to some breath recordings. The feminine voice still entirely in french language which remains a major asset to Life's Decay. The voice walks among the instruments, sometimes whispered, sometimes energetic but always anchored to the project's universe.

"Eklaasera" can not be described with a single musical style, it is a travel through various influences, experimental classical music sometimes filled with some country folk or even post-apocalyptic jazz. The general atmosphere is dark, industrial and especially Retro & Luxury.

The mixing and mastering of this fifth album is also gaining in quality compared to previous albums. "Eklaasera" in addition to its Retro Luxury packaging comes with a 16-pages booklet containing all the latest artworks and all the latest photographs of the project, including also all the album lyrics and information."

Nine Inch Nails - Drummer To Leave The Band

Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor has posted the following update:

"South America, thank you very much! We had a great time performing for you and hanging out in your neck of the woods. I promise we'll be back before long and again I apologize for the cancellations (those were OUR fault and not the promoter's).

On another note, Josh Freese fans be sure to check out a show on the upcoming North American leg of the tour, as sadly they will be the last ones he's playing with us. He informed me he's leaving the tour at the end of this year. Yes, we are still dear friends. No, I'm not sure what we are going to do."

Evergrey - New Video Online

MTV's HeadbangersBlog reports:

"Gothenberg, Sweden's meloldic power metal veterans, Evergrey, have "Greyced" us with the premiere of their new video for the song "Broken Wings," from their latest album, "Torn". The video can be viewed here.

Evergrey frontman Tom Englund commented: "When we decided to shoot a video for "Broken Wings," we immediately felt that we needed some sort of storyline that would graphically show the frustration of the main character in the song. We knew that the director who could make this happen was Patric Ullaeus. We've worked with him on several videos before, and he also shot our Live DVD a couple of years back as well as videos for other artists like In Flames, Children Of Bodom, Arch Enemy and Lacuna Coil.

I came to visit him one night, when he was editing the underwater scenes for the video, and when I banged on the door I scared him so much he thought his heart was going to jump out of his chest, he told me later. He was totally into the story with all these strange rooms, masks, rocking chairs and quite a haunting feel to it all.

We wanted the band shots to have an apocalyptic feel to them comparable to the vibe of the film "Sin City," just so they wouldn't stray too much from the story. The basic idea of it could be interpreted in different ways for different people, which is exactly what we wanted. Since all of our lyrics are based on things we've been through, I think it would be great if even one single person seeing it could get some comfort knowing that we all have difficult times and that they are not alone.

When I finally sat down to look at it for the first time, it hit me how much darker the video made the the song. It made me really feel for the female character in the clip. I hope it makes you do the same."

Lamb Of God - Still Not Welcome In Los Angeles' The Forum

As announced, Lamb Of God are supporting Metallica on some N. American dates. However, a few days ago, Metallica have posted the following report about their tour: "As you may have heard, the owners of the Los Angeles Forum have a little issue with our friends from Lamb Of God, so unfortunately they will not be joining us for the two shows at The Forum on December 17 and 18. That's the bad news... the good news is that our bros in Machine Head are rushing back to the States from Europe to step in on those two nights. And of course no show would be complete without The Sword kicking things off, so they'll be there too."

In 2005, Lamb Of God were famously banned from playing The Forum venue, owned by The Faithful Central Bible Church, because church leaders were offended by the group's previous name "Burn The Priest"... and it seems they still are!

In an April 2005 interview with U-Daily Bulletin, Lamb Of God guitarist Willie Adler stated about the Forum ban: "It is a bit of a letdown, especially since, if they (the church) had done any kind of proper research about us, they would have found that we are no way evil or satanic. It was just a name, that's all. They really had no idea who we are, and I kind of laughed at their closed-mindedness. And taking the good with the bad, by raising such a fuss, they probably turned a lot more people on to us because of it. (...) The really funny thing is, Obituary us Slipknot-headlined show on April 9, 2005 at the Forum], and their music is probably far more evil than their namesake would imply."

Speaking to the Los Angeles Times in a February 2005 interview, Marc Little, chief operating officer for The Faithful Central Bible Church's business dealings, stated about the church's decision to cancel the Lamb Of God concert: "This is a building that is owned by a church, and we are sensitive to our congregation and to our obvious religious beliefs. At the same time, we have to balance that with being a business. This is a band that was formerly known as Burn The Priest, so it's a fair assumption that some of the stuff they are singing may be antithetical to our beliefs."
