Avantasia - Share New Album Cover Art, Tracklist

After revealing some of the guests that will appear on symphonic power metallers Avantasia's new album, Moonglow, it's time to take a look at the cover art and tracklist as well. The cover artwork was created by Alexander Jansson.

Mark your calendars for a February 1st, 2019 release through Nuclear Blast.

Comments Tobias Sammet: "It's alive! After more than two years of hard work - and what felt like 71 overnight shifts back to back recently - we're ready to unleash Moonglow upon the universe. I believe it's the most adorned and detailed album we've ever produced. Not over ambitious, but there is a lot of love for detail in there. Avantasia is the ultimate playground for a musician's wildest fantasies to come true: Celtic elements, world music elements, big choirs, atmospheric stuff, amazing guest vocal performances and of course all that wrapped up in what I consider to be the typical Avantasia sound. Someone in the music business just told me that the embellished nature of the sound makes it hard to market it, it doesn't fit in the contemporary musical landscape and 'if you take a look around, no one really sounds like that.' - EXACTLY! THANK YOU! I can't wait to release Moonglow, take my friends of the Avantasia family and hit the road for the big 'Moonglow World Tour'."

Tracklist:

01. Ghost In The Moon
02. Book Of Shallows
03. Moonglow
04. The Raven Child
05. Starlight
06. Invincible
07. Alchemy
08. The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn
09. Lavender
10. Requiem For A Dream
11. Maniac
12. Heart (bonus track)

This time round, Tobias worked not only with well-known faces such as Ronnie Atkins, Jørn Lande, Eric Martin, Geoff Tate, Michael Kiske or Bob Catley but also with new singers like Candice Night, Hansi Kürsch as well as Mille Petrozza who help to vitalize the new Avantasia record.

He sang with Edguy ("Out of Control"), but AFAIK not with Ava

Cool cover, looks influenced by Tim Burton imagery.
Tobias, Avantasia barely needs any marketing. It has a well established fan base and social media is more than enough to capture new ones.
Has for the sound, we're used to get quality music from Avantasia, even your least fan favorite album is better than pretty much all symphonic metal out there. So, experiment has much as you can, cause we know we'll get good stuff anyway.

Hansi has done guest vocals for so many bands including Edguy, Gamma Ray, Aryeon, etc, that I just assumed he had done Avantasia. I'll probably get this album purely because of Hansi.

Couldnt agree more with you. You can't actually compare it to other bands, it is such a diverse style what they are doing, with so many elements.. It is a quality of work, might it be called power/pop/symphonic. Whatever the haters call it these days I am always excited to hear the new records, and i know it cannot disappoint me.

I would call them Power Metal in their first stint and heavy/hard rock since The Scarecrow. But IMHO the band never had symophonic elements, maybe some progressive ones; which is not bad at all.
Agree with you, I enjoy all the albums from the band, although their last two are quite repetitive.

You can put Hansi in a Daddy Yankee single and I would be dying to hear it. Put it with Avantasia and I will have a new word to say "Extremely high Expectations".

I LOVE the cover art, i might be the best one out of all the Avantasia albums. I hope the music is as good because Ghostlights was pretty damn good, i am optimistic!
