These guys have been one of the best at this mathy/djenty sound for awhile and this just reinforces my opinion of that. Not quite as good as Dualism but on par with Phenotype for sure. Love At the Edge of Winter, I think Charlotte Wessels compliments his voice well for a duet.

I think I'm starting to get into Djent/math because if I had listened to this a year or two ago I probably wouldn't have liked it appreciated it as much as I do now.

Waaay better than Phenotype. The rhythm driven atmospheric sections are what I think they've always done best and I'm so happy this is what this album focuses on.
That said i think they could have been a lot more ambitious. The direction they took was excellent, but they just didn't go the distance...

Quite enjoyable (considering it was my first encounter with the band), although I feel the music is somewhat constrained. Some vocals sound worn, and the guitars don't explore their full potential.

I enjoyed the singles and i saw the live debut of Measuring The Heavens, that song is an absolute beast in a live setting. Daniel's vocals even live are fucking spot on, its really unbelieaveble to watch him perform, not a single note missed

Wow this is immediately a lot more enjoyable than previous releases from this band, will give it a few more listens (could be the first standout 2026 album). I also would consider reviewing it if the staff don't pick it up.

It has already been reviewed by Radu, but dont let that deter you from doing your own review of it!

I've been a fan of Textures since forever, I always enjoyed their unique take on djent/progressive. This album however left me disappointed. The singles where underwhelming and apparently the rest of the album is in the same direction.
Production wise its flawless. However it's too "radio-friendly", too clean, too easy.

Yeah this is very watered-down; without Daniel's unique vocals I'd have a really hard time guessing it was them if listening blind. The album is almost entirely bereft of their signature math metal twist and polarising melodies. On it's own that's not a reason to dislike the album, but apart from the catch chorus here and there I don't remember much of the album. As you said, it's easy-listening and that's never been their forte. They try to lean into their usual style in the last two tracks a bit, but it wasn't enough to save the record.
The new direction sounds very deliberate - it's consistent if nothing else - and while I hope it helps garner them the adoration they've always deserved I can't listen to this without feeling really sad. Titling this Genotye was what got my hopes up so much.
