Death metal veterans Sinister shared news that they have recently welcomed to the ranks Francesco Ponga as their new guitarist. Additionally, the Dutch group also revealed that frontman Adrie Kloosterwaard is battling with health issues. More can be read below.

Statement from bassist Alesa Kloosterwaard: "Dear Sinister friends and fans, there has been a period of silence from our side lately, but it was for a very important reason. After the New Year, the Sinister lineup began to evolve. Alongside Stefano Rumich, whom you already know, we welcomed Francesco Ponga as our new guitarist. Walter Tjwa has decided to focus on his band Radiathor, and we wish him nothing but the best on his journey.

"We’ve been buried in work, practicing Sinister classic tracks to bring you exactly what you’ve been asking for years-an old-school set! The band has truly become a family; we spend a lot of time together and practice constantly, as we finally all live close to one another-something that hasn't happened in over a decade.

"However, just as we were preparing to announce the new lineup in April, Adrie suddenly fell ill. Following an emergency surgery, his condition began to deteriorate drastically. Unfortunately, the illness has spread, and at this moment, we do not know what the future brings. Despite this, we initially hoped to perform at MDF. We first reached out to Mike Hrubovcak, who unfortunately couldn't make it due to his own concerts with I.C.E. and then Danny from Malignancy who was honored to do it. However, due to Adrie's worsening condition, I can no longer leave his side. He requires 24/7 care, and my entire focus is on him. This May marks our 20th anniversary together, and we want to spend these moments by each other's side. At MDF's suggestion, half of the Sinister lineup will still arrive on Saturday, May 23rd, to perform a special tribute set in Adrie's honor with Danny and Alex from Maligancy filling in for Adrie and me.

"Thank you all for the overwhelming support. I’m sorry I can't reply to every message personally right now. Instead, please leave a kind thought for Adrie and I will make sure I read it to him."

So tough, hope Adrie gets better soon.
