I read the book a week ago in a day, and just now I understood it. It is a very complex and mature book, but the story was shallow, I missed the 'good old HP feeling', but I guess, it just would not fitted the story. SO what do you guys think about it? I really hope that we will see more then just another HP book, I mean the story is just so complicated all of the sudden, that it would be a shame to finish it with just one volume, but I guess the future will tell.

Hi man! once again we are talking about Harry Potter. I'm glad you read it. As I told you before this book is no what everyone think it is. I mean a lot of people think that HP is just another 'kid novel' and this book prove they are wrong. Like you said is very mature... (and for me kind of sad). when I read the first two books I didn't expect to love HP but after the 3 and the others I just love it. Its like a kid that Grows in front of your eyes, that's how I see this novels. I wanna read once again but this time it in english because in spanish is different, we lose a lot. But i'm no too good with english so...

I agree with you, that by reading the first books you would never expect a part like this one. I mean I didn't even see it coming, that is why I didn't rushed to the bookstore. I would not call it sad that the caracter evolved this way, I mean it was about time to HP become something more then a 'kid novel' . It is really interesting what become though, I mean Dumbledore is dead and all, and what do you think about Snape?

I like the HP serie, however I may not go with you two on one thing, I do think that HP is just a kid novel, I mean, if you omit all the witchcraft and magic universe, I'm sure you'll find a lot of stories like it, And beside this, dead characters doesn't mean HP is a dark novel (4,5,6), well it may be 'Not Happy', but not that dark Anyway, I really really enjoyed the 3 last books they were very pleasent to read. Written by [user id=5217] on 23.06.2006 at 14:51 I've made one mistake is that I read from vol 1 to 5 in french, and switched to english in the sixth, got totally confused with the names (beware that... LOL) And yes you're right about the fact that the reader watch a child grow, a very nice idea. However I find the character of Harry to be quite passive compared to the others.

Nice threat! I like the HP series a lot, like you guys said i also read the first book recomended by my brother, cause i thought it was a kids story, but as i read it i was very sorprised, and then with the second and so on, i was very interested in the story and its complexity. About the last one, it was very good, i also like the way HP grows and the books become darker and more complex (altough like ylside not that dark). About the dead of Dumbledore i was shoked the first time i read it, but then giving it more thought (and surfing some fan page ) I discovered that its a big possibility that everything is part of a plan, and that Dumbledore had in mind everything that was going to happen that night, even that Snape is not bad at all and he was part of the plan. But well... i guess we just have to wait for the last one. :

I'm a biiig HP fan, I've read all the books more than 3 times each, ^^ yeah I'm a silly kid lol but I so completely love them, now the half blood prince.. it was a really great book imo, just when we thought Snape had been one of the 'good' ones, ah by the way, you should add somehtign like 'spoilers ahead' on the title cause I'm SPOILING IT as it is I certainly hope the rumors that the woman wrote the last book after writing the first one isn't true, because then I''m quite sure we're up to one crappy ending.. so cross my fingers she makes it one hell of a 800 pages book ^^ And I could bet my ass that Malfoy turns good in the end and he goes and help Harry to kill Voldemort in the end and he dies too lol I think Harry will die as well... I just get that hunch, and Ron and Hermione are gonna sooooo get together lol, and I'll make voodoo to have the woman include a sex scene between the twins lol... yeah.. okay that's unlikely... Who do you guys think is the dude who took the horcrux???

25.06.2006 - 13:17 Written by Linak on 24.06.2006 at 01:37 You know, I think that this is more complex then we think it is. I don't really think that Snape actually wanted to kill Dumbledore, he just wanted to protect his cover when Beatrix and Narcissa visited him in the begining. And after that, the things went on. If you remember, he was saying in that conversation, that he knows the PLAN, but in school, he kept asking Mayfol.... Written by Linak on 24.06.2006 at 01:37 I agree, but maybe she just wrote the last chapter, that they all live happily ever after.... BTW, I hope she writes two.. Written by Linak on 24.06.2006 at 01:37 I really think, that the book can't escape from this clishe Written by Linak on 24.06.2006 at 01:37 I don't think that Harry will die, that would be an even bigger clishe, but I see that Ron and Herm will get together, but a sex scene between Fred and George...??? Written by Linak on 24.06.2006 at 01:37 Someone unknown. It is how she will bring in a plot twist. Anyways, I didn't get it, why was HP so sad when he found out, that the horcrux was a fake, I mean the important thing is, that it was destroyed...

Account deleted Written by ylside on 24.06.2006 at 03:41 Isn't it what the whole HP series is all about? o_O I mean each and every HP book is the same: 1) the kid witnesses something weird/terrifying during summer 2) something tries to kill him/he thinks something tries to kill him and no one believes him apart from his friends 3) they investigate on their own, which involves a whole bunch of funny yet repetitive clashes with Snape/McGonnagall/the new teacher 4) and near the book's climax it is revealed that the sinister figure behind the intrigue is... Voldemort. Well no shit. Don't get me wrong - I don't mean to flame the series, in fact I consider it quite entertaining. But Rowling really should introduce something original to her stories in my opinion. And just for the record: I was rejoicing when that old pedo Dumbledore finally got killed

25.06.2006 - 19:32 Written by ylside on 24.06.2006 at 01:52 Never realised that!! But now I'm thinking about it, it makes sense... Written by [user id=792] on 25.06.2006 at 16:24 Usually at Halloween. However you must have noticed nothing happened at Halloween in the 6th book. I expected something to happen, I kept waiting for it, but nothing came... I think Rowling tried to change her writing diagram, because "HP and the Half-Blood Prince" is kinda different from what you wrote (which is perfectly accurate for the 5 previous books though). Nothing really happened in the main part of the book, no big event, no real plot except for their lovely little love stories and their journey through Voldemort's past. And all of a sudden everything starts : the quest for the Horcrux, the Dark Mark, Dumby being killed... She's trying to bring some variety IMO in her narrative scheme. Anyway my favourite character of the story remains Snape, and this latest book simply confirmed it. He's the most unpredictable, the only one you can really wonder about IMO...

25.06.2006 - 22:56 Written by Sekhmet on 25.06.2006 at 22:27 I agree, I mean the one Dumby managed to get was guarded pretty good, and he almost died (I laughed my ass of when he was screming like that ) , and lets not forget that HP is still a kid. I think that he will found some help though, or something unexpectedly stupid happens.

I think this book was more mature because Harry is getting more mature too. Malfoy turning good?? I also thought so. The whole Snape thing is very interesting. But I think that just one book won't be enough to reveal all the mysteries and stuff remaining to be known. There are lots of "villians" remaining, so how and when are they going to "pay" what they've done?? BTW I once heard (or read) that the one who stole the horcrux is Sirius' bro, Regulus Black.

30.07.2006 - 21:07 Written by Damnated on 29.06.2006 at 13:52 Worth reading yes but he went too far, I hope Rowling will amaze us more than what the boy wrote in that website, some clues were damn well spotted I must say. Especially that one in the first HP book with dumby saying that he can trust his life to Hagrid, and that he created a horcrux himself because he killed one sorcerer long ago or something, again all this was in Book 1, which confirms what I said before, that the books are reversly linked! (3 with 5, 2 with 6, and ultimatry 1 with 7)

01.08.2006 - 00:32 Written by ylside on 30.07.2006 at 21:07 That Dumby horcrux thing is a pretty interesting thing, and if you read it again, after these ideas, it sort of seems that way. I mean Dumby and Snape were arguing about something, that Snape didn't want to do anymore, maybe, killing Dumby was it Written by Bitch Boy on 29.07.2006 at 20:18 I thought the same, and if she will only release one book, that would be bad, I mean the story is way to complex now.

I don't really care about the title as long as Rowling gives us some heavy 1500 pages book Oh and I really think it will be two years or more, JK just had a baby in 2005 and stuff. Hope this thread will survive until then LOL.
