Here is the new thread to one of the oldest thrash metal bands around. (They have been around since 1980.) They are indeed one of my all-time favorite bands. In this thread, you can post about what your favorite album/song is, what new things are going on in the band, etc. My favorite songs are 'Elimination', 'Hello From The Gutter', and 'In Union We Stand'.

I haven't heard much stuff from them, but it sounded pretty good. Especially given the fact that it's pretty old thrash.

I've heard faint whispers about these guys before on MS, and they're suppose to be on Gigantour 2, if there is one. I've never heard them, I'm guessing I should check out Taking Over and Feel the Fire. Anything else to check out?

My all time favorite thrash band. Although they started in the 80's as "The Lubricunts" it was a punk band (DD & Blitz) and hadn't that much to do with Overkill. And Overkill is from New Jersey actually. Another thing although they are called Overkill if you look at the cover it's more likely "Over Kill" (just look at the logo).

I know that they are from New Jersey, but if I remever correct New Jersy is very close to New York.
And their name is overkill, but if I remeber correct, they have called them self Over Kill.

@Tobias P: well New Jersey is close to New York but it's not New York. The second statement is absoluely usless. My favorite albums are "Taking Over", "The Years of Decay" & "Necroshine", the only album I don't like is "ReliXIV", also not keen on "Killbox 13" either.

About New Yourk and New Jersy its same and same time diferent towns, its near New Your and it is New Yourk, about sounds, its like discuss whitch towns are in bay Area, LA and San Francisco, or only Sanfrancisco or only LA.
Here same,
For me I dont care about sound, because I dunno any thrash band from New Jarsy, from New York early Anthrax, but San New Jarsy dunno

Tobias P can you explain what is New Your thrash sound

I like albums from 80ties

Whiplash is also from New Jersey.

Overkill was for many years both from New York and New Jersey (some members were New Yorkers, and I believe most of the band lived in Old Bridge, NJ). When their last drummer, who was from New York, was replaced with a New Jersey drummer, it marked the first time the band was 100% NJ.

Other NJ thrash bands include Whiplash (noted above), Jersey Dogs, Deadly Blessing, Magus Beast (who I believe used to be called Aggressor), I think Attacker... I'm missing a bunch, but this is off the top of my head.

Overkill is just about my favorite band. My personal favorite albums are Under the Influence and The Years of Decay, but pretty much any of their earlier stuff is a safe bet other than I Hear Black. I have their first six albums, Fuck You!!! And Then Some, Live Kill, and ReliXIV. The last of which was a big disappointment, but did have Pound of Flesh which is a kickass song, and Old School which is and extremely cheesy punk rock song, but great to sing along to at their shows, especially around here because both times I've seen them, Eddie Trunk (a well-known metal radio show host for 104.3 in New York) got up on stage and reenacted the radio broadcasts that are sampled in the song, which is like the cherry on top of the most brutal fucking sundae you've ever eaten.

I've never had a chance to meet them, but word on the street is they're all nice guys, specifically Blitz. My guitar teacher, whose band, Faith Healer, used to be big in the local circles, is still friends with him, although he doesn't see him very often at all anymore.

I count Blitz among the best singers in music. I fucking love his voice.

Just today I purchased "Fuck You And Then Some" and its rather enjoyable for me,though the production is a bit off. That cd finishes my Overkill collection, though I am thinking about getting "Necroshine".

Overkill is a band that grew on me after some time. At first when I heard them I thought they were just a decent thrash band. But now they're more than decent, they're fuckin' amazing! My favorite album by them is "I Hear Black" which is their most hated album, but I don't give a damn about that 'cause it just fuckin' shreds in my opinion. =)

In addition to them being a ridiculously awesome band, I've heard several accounts of them being really cool guys. I recall Jupitreas meeting them, and I know that my old guitar teacher was personal friends with Bobby. Based on interviews I've read with them they seem very real and down-to-earth, if not a little simple - which is not to say they're stupid (see: interviews with Glen Benson), but more like they don't have any kind of agenda or rockstar attitude with their music, I guess.

Of course, I may be biased. But I've heard Bruce Dickinson is an asshole and though I love Maiden I'll still readily admit that.

you wanna know a crime against humanity? A few years ago, Overkill opened for Motorhead in a bar the same night Hillary Duff sold out the SaddleDome (the biggest arena in the city, home for our NHL team)
