I already have MSN and facebook but a friend of mine who now lives in Milan suggested me to make a Skype account. What's the difference from another network, I mean, what are the real advantages of having skype? Isn't a videocall similar to a chat with webcams on after all? Post your opinions about this program.

Also, if you want, share your Skype so that we can add each other Mine is o__elio__o but I'm not adding anybody

You can put some money on your account and then call on phones abroad for a cheaper cost....unless you're calling Cuba which is reportedly expensive even with Skype...

Btw...Skype was invented in Estonia....

I'm using Skype for a few years now and I've been used to it ever since. It's easy to use and I think it's more comfortable than MSN. Besides, it has prettier smileys.
Since I'm not using the option to call somebody (nor videocalls), I use only instant messaging and the way Skype provides it completely pleases me. Oh, oh, you can play games as well. There's even that freaky cool game named MAHJONG! Yeah, and other interesting utilities besides games... but that's not the point.
However, I think Skype 4.0 is worse than Skype 3.8 if we talk about versions. The previous one was a lot easier to use even though there weren't some pretty cool options which are on the latest version (such as marking the exact conversation as unread or the way how files (a lot of files) you're sending to someone (or someone is sending to you) appear in the conversation window & taskbar). Well, but that's it, I think. :>

I use to use it some years ago when I talked whit somebody in Swe , but I gave mine name to someone from real life and then next weeks 20 and moustly unvanted people start call me so I dont us eit anymore, there's simply house pfone, call me or best wey send email, I ansver if its normal and I wanna same call beck , but I neve rcall beck to unknown numbers

not mine, all incomes and outcomes work well, besides this is good way talk whit MS members, well one day I will buy mic and maybe someone can talk whit me XD

Although I don't really use it anymore, I've found Skype to be very useful. It's got great voice as well as video features and also works for non-PC calls and can also send SMS text messages (if you buy credit).

I use skype because only my gf is there. If I go online on MSN, hoards of ppl would go like "haven't seen you for a long time" and it's impolite to ignore those messages, so Skype is good for me in a sense that I won't get sidetracked by ppl that I don't want to speak to at that moment.

I did spoken whit Jean aka Hanna of Steal, Reberie, Oywind and Siren Mari aka Fliritaria .... they are examples and avidance that my english was perfect much better as written... so , ask them, all were suprised

I loan a mic in next week, so any of you wana skype talk in next week, know how good my speing english is you can call me, well 1th PM me, we can talk some times next week :p

It's an incredible software for chatter boxes all around the world. Well, its very convenient to talk to my parents as well. Somehow, calling on cell phones is lot easy than having an internet connection with really good speed to runcthe skype. I rather prefer to be on my cell phone.

The thing is that you can't actually juxtapose a voice nor an accent with the traditional posts of K7 because he just doesn't talk the way he writes. He actually has a reasonably good spoken English. It's mind-blowing that he can write the way he does while being able to hold decent conversations. I didn't detect a single case of a "than" supplanted by a "how" in his speech.

Yeah really? I find it so hard to believe.

I am not really a skype person, most of the time when I turn it on is when I am forced to talk to my ex. Actually I'd love to talk to other people who are not my ex, but I should first get a new account for that. Maybe I'll eventually accept that offer K7 made me and talk with him.

And others if you are interested. I haven't spoken a word of English in almost a year, the first 15 minutes will be hilarious. For you, not for me as I'll be a nervous wreck.

I just wanted to say, those two sound nothing alike. If someone had said you sounded like a Kiwi or an Aussie that would have made more sense.
But saying like a Saffer or a Kiwi is like saying one sounds like a West Indian or an Aussie.

Anyway... this was the second time I was told that I sounded South African.. I've been told that I sound American too (once)... maybe it's just that every person might have a personal perception of language... Hungarian sounds Finnish to me but some others have said it sounds Turkish or something to them... possibilities are countless... I remember my bro said that Portuguese sounds like Polish to him (after having heard the announcements on board a Porto-bound aircraft) and I somewhat agree... although to me less because I understand some of it... for someone who doesn't understand a single word, the effect is different.

But weirdly enough all those that speak any of the eleven official South African languages (Afrikaans (which of course is closely related to Dutch), English, Ndebele, Northern Sotho, Sotho, Swazi, Tswana, Tsonga, Venda, Xhosa and Zulu.) all more or less have the same accent when speaking English. I come across loads of South Africans, no matter what their native language is, during Summer here in the Netherlands due to it then being cricket season here. Same goes for Aussies, Kiwis and West Indians.

Why ppl say S Africans when speak even Boers what has Afrikaans native lang. in englihs its hard to understand ?? it isn't at all, its easy to get what they are saying , if they don't use some slang like troy said to me ''cool beans'' or I said ''old bill'' he didn't know what old means well saying old bill is much better to say as using A,C,A,B, what I hate to use

Viggo - you don't have that traditional finish Estonian English as Nighwtish guys and most Estonian solders what has been interviewed in the ''Saber Strike'' ... and they still talks better as lat and Lit solders since you only has mandatory army, you didn't have even those well know cant say examples well Jyrky 69 has strong finish accent even guy speaks English often .... you don't have it

of topic --- no I don't use it like last 4 years .... when last time I did say it ? I am not alcoholic as I was when I come here ... I am not that person anymore

Many says so, many americans say like Rab C Nesbitt is impossible to understand like Che for example , even Joe and Barry says so, but its not to me .... only English what is hard to me little bit get is Jamaican and Caribbean's , I need use to it ... and yes hop hop englishas well
