With big expectations i made a topic about 2012, which turned into piece of crap...it would be unfair not to have topic about one of the truly most awesome movies around as well...so here we go

I saw this the other night in 3D and i thought the graphics were amazing... I really enjoyed it and i would like to see it again... I reckon before seeing the normal version, you must see it in 3D first. This movie did not disappoint me at all, However it did have a cliche story line but that didn't bother me one bit...

Pure cliché I wish that a larger part of the 400million spent were invested on the development of the plot... So little for the large smurfs...

2012 died in my eyes because of poor plot...but it wasnt Avatar's case...my "elvish" soul was fully satisfied... anyway i am not interested in movies, where aggressive conquerors win and natives are slaughtered in the name of civilization...i want to see good triumphing the evil...i want - no, i demand - to see "fairy tales for adult" Avatar is respecting that and adding ultimate visual and sensual experience bonus

I also like fairy tales like this... And even though I can't consider myself a big fan of the big blue Pikachus I liked the landscapes, the simple story with its moral and well...the artistic value indeed was there...

At least James Cameron is great at filming action sequences. In the middle of the chaos, is possible to know excly whats happening and who is fighting with who. Thats pretty rare in the latest movies ive seen (masters of incompetence in this department : Lord of the rings and Transformers). By the way, the final combat looks a lot like a technological Western ... But this time the director support shamelessly the Indians.

Shit story, incredible visuals (at least technically, since I didn't care so much for the Navi design). I totally don't regret dishing out the cash for the 3d IMAX version since it was a blast to watch all that shit blowing up in 3d. nevertheless, were i to go to the normal version of this film, i'd be completely unsatisfied since the story is predictable and stupidly preachy, not to mention hypocritical.

17.01.2010 - 02:52 Written by Uirapuru on 17.01.2010 at 02:02 Genius. I really enjoyed the movie, although I think James Cameron did a better job on Aquaman (reference anyone?) I never understood why the main chick had a tunnel in her ear. It was cool, but it didn't make much sense. Also noted that at the end, in the van, she actually had two corpses to choose from. I'm glad she picked right. Powerful though cliched storyline. Great graphics. For a while very Philip K Dickish, would have liked to see am ending consistant with that idea.

Copied lame story (from Pocahontas), forced message that couldn't have been more stupidly and ridiculously exposed, terrible dialogs and fights, all made possible thanks to great graphics, which is the only good thing about it.

18.01.2010 - 18:55 Written by Uirapuru on 14.01.2010 at 00:19 watch Batman Begins all those movies' fighting scenes i find genius compared to that movie's... apart from the fight scenes Batman Begins is perfect. the fight scenes are so quick and confusing you can only guess who is winning. saw Avatar, i think it was a good movie with a decent message, more artistic than your typical blockbuster, and i don't care much for special effects anymore. i expected a tragic "heroic" ending but instead i got proven wrong.

Fantastic fantastic film. Very Hayao Miyazaki... much like "Princess Mononoke" in the themes. There is so much to analyse in the film. I only saw it once, but I look forward to whenever I see it again.

Me neither... I think the navitrolls are awesome because they are much wiser as they have managed to retained contact with the nature and are spiritually much more advanced and closer to the creator... that makes them very rich... Aliens don't have to build robots and cupola towns or sth to show they're "advanced"...

I actually haven't seen it yet, an I'm a Cameron fanboy. Wat. As for those saying the storyline is "weak". James Cameron film plotlines usually are simple and straightforward. It's the exploration of themes and charactersation which he excels at. Upon first viewing you could say "Aliens" or indeed, Terminator 2 are 2+ hours of blowing stuff up, but both films are extremely layered, infinitely more than most huge films. I'm sure this isn't dissimilar. Must see... Fffffuuu---

I hated that movie. The plot and character development should not be sacrificed to special effects and even the latter are overrated, IMO. I am quite annoyed that this film is reaping all the awards, it simply doesn't deserve them because all we have here is a kids' movie and nothing else. I didn't felt bored while watching it, though. The pace was pretty decent.

"Domestic Total as of Feb. 9, 2010: $633,621,035." (BoxOfficeMojo.com) It's grossed over two billion worldwide now too. Of course, it's in 3D and IMAX so the tickets were more expensive than usual which means there were less overall people than Cameron's last blockbuster. But I think it's reasonable to assume that the film was a success. Personally, I don't think it is Cameron's best, but definitely entertaining.

It sucked pretty much. If it weren't for the awesome effects I wouldn't have even seen it. Boring and predictable plot, we all knew how it was going to end after half a hour of movie. Also, it was too fucking long. A movie can be almost three hours long but not when it's fucking predictable. Disney did stories like this one many times and better.
