One of the greatest TV shows of the last decade, funny and intelligent, a thing that is lacking from most of today's shows...
As a scientist to be I can truly say this is a show for the smart, with jokes that only someone with some knowledge will understand, characters that are easy to relate to for anyone who was a bit nerdy growing up, a lot of sci-fi jokes, a cute blonde, jokes about engeneers XD, and pretty much a little view to a different sidee of the academic life...and of course Sheldon...

Yeah, it's really great. That reminds me, new episode is out. I'm going to watch it now.

Btw, I'd really appreciate it if you'd expand on the topic a little in your opening post. An overview of the characters maybe?

"I'm polymerized tree sap and you're an inorganic adhesive, so whatever verbal projectile you launch in my direction is reflected off of me, returns in its original trajectory and adheres to you."

It's one of my favorites as well. I have the first season on DVD, but I can't find the second anywhere. I dunno who's my favorite, Sheldon or Howard, but damn those two dudes make me laugh. I also like watching YouTube videos of the actor who plays Sheldon, especially TV interviews like Craig Ferguson.

But fuck! I can't stand the opening song

It's really great, awesome characters and funny as hell. A good complement now that Scrubs is beginning to decline.

I love the episode where Raj and Howard comes on to a girl.

Raj: "My people invented kama sutra, you're welcome."
Howard: "My people invented circumcision, you're welcome."

I almost laughed myself to death after the last comment.

YES! Other TBBT fans! We are not major televison watchers but the wife and I make it a point to watch CBS on Monday nights!

Do you think Penny and Leonard got "together" too fast? I mean it didn't take long at all - seems to me that could have been a real reason why to keep watching the show - will Leonard ever "get with" Penny?

Does Leonard annoy anyone else besides me? It took me a while to notice, but in almost every scene, that actor cocks his head in an annoying way while putting an odd pitch in his voice towards the end of a line. The Indian guy also annoys me frequently, but the fact that he can't talk around women unless he's drunk is quite funny xD

haha, i noticed it too. he's a bit annoying with his "let's get along" attitude, but then all the characters are annoying with some of their little quirks and Penny being so normal.

what kinda question is that? Sheldon of course. and everyone else who didn't say Sheldon would say Howard haha. Howard seems to me the most "normal" of the group, though his way of handling women is beyond absurdly pathetic and funny hahha.

I love The Big Bang Theory. It must be the best comedy series I've ever seen. Unlike in the other shows the jokes are very intelligent in a way. It feels like a win, when you get a joke that you know someone else might not get. I guess there's a geek living inside all of us.

I must say my favourite character is Leonard. Probably because he's the only even remotely normal person in comparison with his friends. I'm always on his side and I'm constantly waiting for the day when he and Penny get back together (if they ever will). But I must say Sheldon comes close. His character is annoying as hell, but still brilliant. Howard is just sad, but his mum is a tough lady.

My wife tells people she's married to Sheldon. He could be the poster boy for Asperger's Syndrome, a disorder that falls on the autism spectrum that I have lived with all my life.

The show is hilarious, and at the same time gives me a character I can completely relate to in terms of his utter bafflement at the ease with which everyone else seems to be able to navigate commonly accepted social norms that seem utterly pointless. Nearly every time Sheldon asks "Well why?" about some common social practice, it's something I've asked myself the same question about.

What sealed my love of the show was an early episode where Penny has to take Sheldon to buy a gift and Lenard tells her to tell Sheldon, "It's a non-optional social obligation" in order to get him to cooperate, an explanation which he readily accepts. I could completely relate to
Sheldon in that moment. It's also helped me to understand how difficult I must make things for my wife at times when I just completely fail to understand the significance of something that she (and everyone else) seems to think is obvious.
