I like making topics today.

This topic is about Obituary. I hope everyone now knows they have a new album and that they're now giving shows everywhere on the world.

Obituary also had/have plans to make a new album. They said they wanted to make a new album this year in their opening letter this year.

Hail this John Tardy with his 'beautifull' voice.

Obituary rules
Tardy's voice is what a corpse would sound like if it was alive! I love the music they make, and my fav. album would be Cause Of Death. So many awesome tracks in that album. Obituary, as somebody said above, have never disappointed with any album!

I'm with Cryptic Myth and Nokkkkkkkkkkkkk, Obituary Rules !!
I especially like "Cause Of Death". Brilliant album and actually I find it one of the better DM albums around.

Too bad I'm going to miss their concert when they come to Graspop... but next time they come to Belgium, I'll be there for sure

Obituary are pretty good, the only thing i dont like about them if their vocals they arnt very death metal their pretty clean to me, which is why my favorite song by them is when they do the cover of Celtic Frost's "Circle Of Tyrants".

The only Obituary album i own is their Anthology album.... From this, i can see that Obituary are one of the most original death bands I have ever come across.... Songs like 'Thretening Skies' and 'Slowly We Rot' are very different, yet, Im a great fan of them both...

If this is a good indication to what Obituary are like, them I may have to purchase some of their other albums...

John Tardy=one of the most underappreciated vocalists in all of metal, period. Man sounds like he's straight out of the asylum.
Eh the entire band is generally underappreciated I think, unfortunately I love Slowly We Rot.

Yeah!! As mentioned by people John Tardy is an exceptional vocalist.
Almost all Obituary albums are gems though Cause Of Death being the best wiht an exceptional cover of Celtic Frost "Circle Of The Tryants" and tracks such as Chopped In Half. Though My fav Obituary track being Dont Care from World Demise.

Obituary - one of the few non-technical death metal bands I listen to. I only have two of their albums (their first one and their latest one), but I'll surely listen to more in the future...

... granted, they're not the most "diverse" death metal band, but who cares? It's the motherfucking Obituary!

Obituary - Hollywood Show Was "Quite Sick" :

Obituary frontman John Tardy has posted the following message at the band's official website:

"We had the day off in San Francisco yesterday! Tonight's show is at the Pound in San Francisco. We are pretty fired up because along with Dead To Fall, who have been doing all these show with us, Sadus joins us tonight for the rest of the shows.

Tuesday's show was in Hollywood at the Whisky A Go Go and it was quite sick! Not the biggest of venues, but an awesome club with a great PA and the place was packed!!!! Always a good show there. Thanks to all of you for coming out!"

Remaining dates on the tour are as follows:

May
25 - San Francisco, CA at Pound SF
26 - Orangevale, CA at The Boardwalk
27 - Portland, OR at Rock N' Roll Pizza
28 - Seattle, WA at The Fenix Underground

Tardy has awesome pipes. I love the bands "Meat and Potatos" approach to Death Metal... straightforward and punishing, with a fantastic groove. I think the "End Complete" is their best, mixing the rawness of their earlier works with a little refinement.

I had never get into Death Metal... (well, Hypocrisy is my favourite band but that's another story)... probably the first band I heard of the genre was Obituary and I disliked that sick vocals... I still enjoy Cause Of Death, but in general I find this music too repetitive.

There are some brilliant old live clips of Obituary at youtube, I don't have the link now, but they are easy to find, just search "Obituary live". Some arsekicking action from the early nineties there.

These guys have not let me down with any of their album releases. John Tardy is one of my favourite DM vocalists, they sound - as Trifixion described - like just came straight out of an asylum or something. They're crazy, specially on the albums 'Slowly We Rot'.

My favourite two albums would definalty be either 'Slowly We Rot' or 'Cause Of Death'. To me they are so albums that, IMO, are the two best debut albyms that any band has released. Well they're are the first that come to mind so whether im just caught up into the moment i dont know .

I've heard about 5 or so Obituary songs; some old, some new, and none of them I really liked. The music just seems way too boring and plodding, and the vocals, while they stand out a bit, do absolutely nothing for me.

Id reccomend you check out their 'Anthology' compliation album, theres far more than 5 tracks on there and It spans their whole career up to 'frozen In Time'... At leasr then you'll be able to make more of an idea on them...

Great band indeed
As everyone posted John Tardy's vocals are awesome. Their music sounds so sick... And "Cause of death" is my favourite album too (well, I haven't listen to their whole discography yet, I still have to listen to Back From The Dead).

Obituary is pure heavy rock'n'roll metal. I think that they are a very atypical death metal band. I like John Tardy's growls. Very primitive!!! I reccomend "Dead" (their live album).

I have seen Obituary live in Paris this January. Very raw!!! On 17 June they will have a concert in Romania. And I shall be there!!!

Listening to Back from the Dead will likely not have much of an effect on what your favourite Obituary albums are.

@diSEMBOWELMENT, how come? Is it the samples? I could imagine them turning someone off. But World Demise still has some really solid songwriting and excellent, catchy tracks. Ranks in the top three with Cause of Death and The End Complete for me

OBITUARY are my all-time favorite death metal and my all-time favorite band all of their cd's are excellent.Too bad there isn't alot of bands that sound like them the only band that I can think of that sounds close to them is the Virginia death metal band deceased.
