Now the most exciting phase of the Cup has started... the playoffs confrontations




Hopefully my dear Uruguay will reach semi-finals. o/ Sure only possible due to the equilibrated confrontation with USA or Ghana in the Quarter-finals... a final is just beyond Uruguay's capacity, but reach the semi-finals and possibly a 3rd place would be a nice revival of the consecrated past

Ghana come on. Korea was disappointing. Need Japan to turn up against Paraguay.

And oh, Germany to win the cup, of course.

Korea lost badly, they deserved the win definitely, and so as you see a penlaty was denied for koreans in 2 half very obvious, but actually they missed hell of chances to score, in the other hand uruguay were smart and scored from little oppurtunities in whole match, thats what i call experience.

Secend half wa sgood korea;s presure was huge and goal, but game was ruined from techiqal staff because of rain and maybe rain was why Uruguay scored such goal , maybe best goal in WC, realy good one, guys play whit passion ,
Im lil sorry for KOrea thay prove tahy are fighters and there never be easy game againts Korea and Japan
Uruguay can make till semies and maybe even win WC if Brazil be out.

Good game, I enjoy it Ghana simply use terible USA defenders and midlefielders mistacdes, such easy goal, if thay play carifull I think its be hard for Ghana to score, same like USA craite chances it was hard for USA and I think its objectice because in groop stage thay dont prove thay shood be,m thay get there whit luck, late goal always are luck, so even Ghana didnt play well in groop stages but here thay won , USA is between 1/8 and 1/4 depends of year same Africa, IMO Korea and Japan has or soon be better in football how black Africa, ow thay are equal

Uruguay - Ghana 3-0
Its be hard game, Uruguay need find ways how broke Ghana's team defense like tahy play whit USA, but thay manige it, its be hard for Ghana win this match, or one miricle sometimes can be huge miricle, but we will see, I think Uruguay will win 3-0

USA vs. Ghana was probably one of the most balanced confrontation in the WC, the fair result would be a draw and penalties, but a defensive mistake tipped the scales... Bocanegra and Demerit fail against Gyan alone...

The Americans did not show the same exciting attitude of the previous games, everything went pretty cold during this game... one thing is to remain calm in an important match, another is to simply not care. I still see USA as a stronger team than Ghana, both physically and technically, but this apparent apathy and exaggerated caution equalized the confrontation, and on a misfortune move Ghana take the chance and score.

By the end the game grow in excitement, but overall it was a pretty boring match... =/

Sucks we're out, but i'm proud of this team for it's "Never Say Die!" attitude and overcoming their frequent and plentiful early gaffes.

and one final thought, if i were super loaded rich and owned a sports franchise, i would pay Ian Darke truckloads of money to commentate our games.

I'm really glad for Ghana, they are the only African team left anyway. I'm especially waiting for Germany - England, I really think (and hope) that Germans will demolish them.

Oh goodness I hope Germany does them 5-1 for a revenge. I hate those over-rated bunch of players, England.

The ball is almost a meter away from his head. Jump in the area with arms wide open shows clear intention... penalty.

Otherwise everyone can be a goalkeeper and then just claim it was unintentional.

Exactly. This coward attitude almost cost the classification. The team is very limited technically and has absolutly no creative midfield, even compared to Korea (Park Ji-Sung alone is better than Pereira, Perez and Lodeiro althogether), so this retreat strategy in the 2nd half was inexplicable... overpopulate the midfield and truncate the game would be much effective than go all back and rely on counter-attacks.

Either way, the remaining of Uruguay and Ghana in the semi-finals will be a complete lucky incident... which must be celebrate nonetheless.. XD

Kiwi - Man when Ned player try's protect his heard whit hand when ball streight goes to face , it was penalty, this was ball was 1m from hed kick to GOAL where 95% could be a goal and player whit hand stops ball ist penalty + red (ok if ref show uber mercy yellow)

England were in shambles in virtually aspect of the game, defence was terrible, offence was virtually non-existent. I do realize that they had a goal disallowed but I don't think it would of made a huge difference considering how badly the Germans were outplaying them.

Such a terrible mistake by the referee. To me there's only two teams in the world: AIK and Sweden. Besides those two I either hate or feel nothing for a team. But after that mistake I cheered for England.

Well Germany were disallowed the same sort of goal in the final of the 1966 World Cup so now it finally evens out

Even if the goal is allowed, I don't thin England could win this game. They were piss poor, over-rated, overpaid bunch of animals.

I hate the English team and love the German team with a passion.

You mean we won it due to an allowed goal that should have been disallowed. But yeah, I know what you mean. I get sick of hearing about '66: we've won the world cup once and with a goal that shouldn't have been. The English team and manager only have themselves to blame for today. We were poor and Germany had the class to take advantage of that and hammer us. Good luck to them.

Looking forward to watching some good football now without having to be stressed about it haha. Argentina and Mexico should be a great game and I'm looking forward to seeing how Japan do. They have a decent chance to go through against against Paraguay (not that they're bad but they're certainly one of the slightly weaker teams in the knockout stage).

Yeah I mixed it up. Hahahaha. Just saw the geoff Hurst goal again on Dutch TV

One thing I'm happy about is that this will probably prove to be an important moment in the decision of the video referees.
