Sounds great. Reminds me of "The Mantle" but a bit more melodic.

OMG.
Edit - well, first impression is: nothing extraordinary. I find the song a bit bland, with some cool solos here and there and a really nice atmospheric piano at the end, but the overall stuff didn't surprise me. It's good nevertheless, just not good enough for an Agalloch song. Maybe it'll grow on me with more listens.

The song would be ok if it was a first demo song of some unknown band.
Really? Thats pretty harsh. I think the song is fantastic.

The snare sounds a bit weird in the mix, but further sounds like solid Agalloch to me. Still looking forward to the album.

This song is an absolute grower. At first I was like "meh", then I played it ten more times.
Can't. Fucking. Wait.

The same here but let us hope the rest of the album would be more surprising!

I would prefer not to.

I really dug it, nice, epic, and atmospheric. Like better produced Mantel song.

I will not listen to the song .... I'll be waiting for the full-length to enjoy the whole thing together
and for the people disappointed : Agalloch writes music that needs lots of time to click on the listener "though being very accessible". so don't judge the album fast

I don't think I've been this excited about an album since Ashes Against The Grain

Hmmmm.....based on the 2 songs it sounds to me like the clean production has made the music loose a bit of the atmosphere present on their previous works.

I'm really liking the songs, the atmosphere they create is amazing. I'm officially psyched.

I like this new song a bit more than the previous one. I won't listen to it anymore though, I prefer to wait for the whole album now... One song for preview is ok, but more is just like spoiling the fun, imho!

Ironically the production on "Marrow of the Spirit" is less polished than on their previous album...

What the fuck does "less polished" even mean? I'm serious, I don't know what you mean. That's extremely far from descriptive. Please, explain to me what that means.

Never correlate the amount of production with how "polished" an album is, whatever you mean by that. Production can ruin an album if there's too much involved, simply put. What seems to be the case is that you have little or no technical knowledge of what production even involves. I don't mean to be so harsh, but you're talking out your ass.

I just listened to both songs once through. First impression was nothing amazing, but decent Agalloch with 'The Mantle' type sound. I'm sure a few more listens will make the songs grow on me far more, as the same thing happened with the other albums.

It's been a while since their last album, Ashes Against The Grain, which is totally a masterpiece. I can't describe my excitement waiting for this.

The wise noob: Thumbs up. To say a band like Agalloch do not concern themselves with putting out an album that they can't stand by - lyrically, instrumentally and production wise is to say you do not know them.
