In this thread you may mention the best videogame intro and/or the best ending of a videogame that you have ever seen and why you consider it or them to be the best ones.

This thread is meant to have people giving away valuable information that some may desire to rather keep ignored to themselves because they haven't played the games and they would like to discover things, such as the ending of a game, by themselves. This means that you may read the following posts at your own risk for this thread is meant to have people mentioning those intros and endings of those videogames.

The best intro I have seen so far would be Metal Gear Solid 2 "Sons of Liberty" intro for it is incredible to see how the starting scenes resemble an action movie sequence. The way he runs through the bridge and how he jumps to the cargo ship is just amazing.

Among the videogames I have played I will have to mention Final Fantasy VIII as having the best videogame ending because of how funny it is to watch the ending credits with the homemade video that is presented and how they leave you in suspense regarding what happened with the main character. It is a really emotive ending for sure. Not to mention the touching ending of Final Fantasy X that almost made me shed some tears (yes, it is that sad).

as preffered endings for me ... i have to admit that i like it more when a game have more than one ending depending to what you've done..!!! like Metal Gear I, Prince of Persia Warrior Within ...

Metal Gear Solid 2 "Sons of Liberty" intro was good to me but not the best..
Max Payne I intro was full of strange feelings and fear which was good to me

Hmmm... I think the ending of Deus Ex. I still think this is the BEST GAME EVER and so I love everything about it. The intro is alright ... well, you see the bad guys talking about their plans coming along (although none of it makes sense to you) and it shows scenes of what they're talking about - sort of plunges you into the deep end, it's an intro you re-watch later and realize: "ooooh...so that's what they meant". Anyway, The ending is awesome. You get to pick one of 3, and there really is no real "good","bad" or "Best" ending... I won't say what they are,because if anyone hasn't played this awesome game, then you really should.

I like Warcrft 3 intro... an human and an orc struggling, then a rain of fire comes and an infernal appears. A great opening movie! About endings, as Everdream1986 said, I prefer those games which have more than one ending. So the first one that I remember is Chrono Trigger, which is an awesome game, too! If I'm not wrong there are about 10 endings in this game. I saw 3 or 4 of 'em, and liked all them a lot.

Star Ocean: The Second Story can have up to eighty endings, depending on characters, items, what you've done, etc.

The intro of Devil May Cry 3 was pretty cool, but the ending probably isn't something to write home to about. I guess the only ending I thought was really cool would have to be F.E.A.R.'s ending that was certainaly worth doing the game over again to watch.

DragonQuest VII's ending was fantastic,the game is 120 hours long and you feel like you've really acclompished something.Of course its like the standard DragonQuest ending,one in which you go to many cities and visit everyone.Something was different about this one.DragonQuest VIII had an equally grand ending.Final Fantasy III,VI,and IX also had great endings.

gothic 2 has the best intro and ending ever.the intro isn't spectacular,but it keeps u more interested in the game,and the ending just makes u want to play gothic 3 too see how the story will end.gothic 2 has the best story line too.dunno,that's what i think.

Final Fantasy 7 , 8 ,9 ,10 is just incredible games with awesome intros / outros. Especially FF 7 could make me cry tears of joy anytime.

I would also like to add here Silent Hill 2, even though there are alot of different endings and some of them are "fillers" for fun, the endings you are most likly to encounter while playing it seriously the first cupple of times is veeeery great.

morrowind has the best ending ever,for giving you a constant effect restore fatigue ring!!!fuck yeah!!and the final 30 minutes are simply hair-raising.i mean,battling ash vampires and other monsters in a dimly lit ruin,then entering the cave in which Dagoth Ur,the villain haunting you in the whole 100 hour game,stands,and you can actually talk to him.then he attacks you,"dies" and ends up in a cave to the left of you,where you have ot avoid him and destroy a gem-like artifact,with dagoth ur's bellowing voice screaming at you to stop...priceless,then he dies,leave the cave just as it collapses,and after that,guess what!!azura waiting for you,then comes a superb cutscene,and she gives you that fucking ring,the best item in the whole game!!!...too bad it's all over now
also it has a good intro too,also might and magic 8,having a good storyline,and at the end,the main villain,the "destroyer" dies,and a spider comes out of his heart,and he says "tell them i've failed" wtf?!? brilliance

The two Fallout games have legendary intro sequences and equally legendary endings that are customized depending on how you played.

- Warcraft Games has excelent intros and endings.
- GTA Vice City is hillarious!
- Soul Reaver II intro kicks ass!!!

Best ending is definitely old Commodore 64 tv game WIZARD OF WAR when the game ends that funeral tune is heart breaking

I must add the ending to Half-Life its just fucking priceless.

The best intro AND ending has Final Fantasy X. The intro with the beautiful "To Zanarkand" theme and the awesome ending which nearly made me cry.

what about Command & Conquer (1) first sequence with briefing, deployment and first seconds of the game itself (especially with Act on Instinct track). or Red Alert 2.

and Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War.

I am not sure if you meant with intro something like an intro movie, or do you mean the first scene of the game? Anyway, I love the intro movie of Valkyrie Profile. I remember I used to watch that intro video everytime before I went to school. It made me feel a bit better. For the first scene of a game, hm..Valkyrie Profile Seeing Lenneth at Odin's throne, and later the whole story of Arngrim, the atmosphere was amazing. I remember I already loved this game since the moment I saw the intro.

-Ending(Lufia II spoiler)

Best Ending, definitely Lufia II. It was the first time I cried because of a video game(now I think about it, this was the very first rpg who tried to make you cry with its storyline, ah well, that's something different). Anyway, seeing the two main characters flying in the sky as two souls - as the saviors, was like the most beautiful part of the entire game.

Was just about to say the same thing. Louis Armstrong and those "The Ink Spot" dudes created one really unique ambiance.

best intros would be the WARCRAFT based ones WOW and WOW BC are soooo sweet HAZZAH!

Final Fantasy 8 intro and ending, I think is the best and still my favourite game, even with all these new titles coming out.

A game called F.E.A.R. on PC. I think that the ending is one of the best, and the game itself was brilliant. Horror FPS with a slowmotion. Excellent graphics!

Zelda: Ocarina of Time on nintendo 64 has the best intro i reckon because it tells a story and i like games that do that.

I can't say much of endings, as I have completed only few games, of which only Blade Runner had a memorable ending (actually endings), but my favorite intro would have to be the intro of the first Fallout game, which was simply brilliant, I really like the way Fallout games mix future setting with a retro style, anyway I remember when I first saw the first part of the intro I was laughing hysterically, as it was really hilarious. Later it got more serious, starting with saying "War. War never changes." and continuing with a presentation of our bleak future, also the second part of the intro was somewhat emotional, at least for me, unfortunately I don't know about the ending as I've never completed it, but probably I'm gonna start over in not too distant future. Also I liked the intros for Fallout 2, Arcanum (the video with the blimp crash) and Planescape: Torment, and Blade Runner, though I can't say anything about the endings( except for Blade Runner)

The best intro, maybe Kingdom Hearts, it was a good intro, and left me wondering what was going to happen, as for endings, I would go with the ending to Chrono Trigger where Marla Chrono, and Luca take kill magus and take over as the big bad guys, I loved that ending.

The only thing that comes to mind right now is the intro for "EVE Online." Surely one of the best I know. I love how it is made, the scrolling images and the ambient background music in combination with all the other aspects bring out a really dark atmosphere. I don't think any video form / animated presentation could achieve even nearly the same kind of results.

Mostly the Warcraft intro's are amazing. Even Reign of Chaos and Frozenthrone intro's and endings are amazing throughout the chapters.

Well i would go for Act of War .. it's so cool
What i like about it that it's based on reallity more than anything else
And it's Intro and Outro is cool because it goes like a story.

In terms of cinematic quality, best intro video I've seen would be from Warhammer: Mark of Chaos.
