Looking forward to Borderlands 2 next month, kind of surprised there's not already a thread created for it so I guess I'll get it started. I think I am probably going to start off playing as Zer0 because I love his stealth and sword tactics and his special looks cool as shit. I also put my pre-order in like 6 months ago on PS3 so can't wait til they release The Mechromancer around Christmas time. Glad to know they are also adding in the ability to actually customize the guns in-game (can't wait to see how that is going to work) since Sony put the kibosh on save file modding, that was my biggest complaint about Borderlands was not being able to customize the weapons at all (what you found was what you got), other than that the game was fucking awesome!!!

I am in. I will be paying for this one. Gearbox has won my support. I didn't play the first in co-op but anxiously await it for this one. Now someone map out all the weapon caches

The co-op in Borderlands was awesome, I really hope it stays exactly the same; can't imagine them making any changes to it but ya never know. The co-op for Borderlands works very similar to Dead Island, in fact it's almost exactly the same with the exception that in Dead Island no matter what level the host and what level you are you will always fight zombies that in your ballpark and get money and experience based on your character level. But in Borderlands the host determines the enemy level and you get shared money and experience based on the host level; so if you wanted you could start at level 1 and join a level 69 player and just hide behind a rock so the enemies don't attack you and just rack up shit loads of shared experience and money to level up super fast before even stepping foot in your own playthrough (which I imagine is why the Dead Island devs made sure to auto level the zombies by player rather than by host).

So I got it at midnight release and spent a great deal of time playing, BL2 is way better than 1. The AI is far superior so it's actually a challenge to fight the baddies now; I didn't die anywhere near as often as in the first game as I have in BL2. Playing as Zer0 (currently at lvl 22) but focusing more on Sniping tree right now than the other 2 skills.

It's fun. I only played half an hour of the first but didn't really get into it but I'm enjoying the second.

I actually played the shit out of the first one and this one is so much better that I'm sure I will play it even more than the first.

I've messed around with this for about an hour or so. It's pretty much like the first one and it's still fun! The UI a little confusing hopefully I will get used to it.

Apparently there was some fan who died and they made a character of him in game or something to commemorate him. Game loses points for that but looks good otherwise. lol

The first one was pretty rad. I played to the end as the black dude and made a couple other files just to test out the other ones.

The game loses points for commemorating a fan who died? First that makes you look like a kind of a douche, I bet you would think that was cool if they had commemorated someone like Dimebag or Dio or some other "dead hero" that you are a fan of. And second I fail to see why that should have any baring on a game's "cool factor", especially when the in-game character has no direct influence on any facet of the game's story or functionality, he just simply gives you a random blue/purple/orange item if you choose to find him and talk to him. If anything that adds to the game's "cool factor" because A) they commemorated a fan (not a Gearbox family member or employee but someone who was just simply a fan of the game) and B) you have the opportunity to get a potentially kool item for free.

Don't judge people harshly over the internet. I made a cancer joke on my friend's Facebook status earlier today and someone got upset, so which point I responsed with a rape joke. Dosn't mean I'm a bad person per se.

Is the PC port better than the first game's? PC Borderlands lagged so bad to the point where it was unplayable, even on the lowest settings.

Downloading this ATM, but it doesn't look very interesting. The original Borderlands bored me after about 15 hours or so. Tried it in co-op as well, was better but not enough to make it worthwhile. The whole thing feels like a first person Diablo with guns, and I really dislike Diablo.

Depending on what exactly bored you, you probably won't like this one then either because it is very much the same but the elements about the last one that were lacking (like storytelling and AI tactics) have been improved upon greatly.

The PC port is much better this time around. It's not amazing, but it's functional and the fps is significantly improved. It is a system hog like most ports though.

The PhysX is a big hog, but that's pretty much the same for every game that has it. I have to play it with PhysX on medium or wide open spaces get really jittery.

I also recommend PC players use the SMAA Injector, makes the lines and edges wonderfully smooooth. Way better than the shitty FXAA it comes with.

The best part of it is is that it works for virtually every game and has almost zero performance impact (usually about 2 or so frames).

Well when you think about it, there's probably tons of people that were as big or bigger fans, and just cause some guy dies he gets to be in the game? If he didn't die nobody would have cared about him.

Now if you excuse me, I'm off to go steal wheelchairs from the poor and disabled to melt down and sell to the rich. Maybe on the way I'll stop at the local playground and unload a deuce and some used condoms in the sandbox.

While that may be true it's still commendable that they commemorated the passing of an insignificant human being in a relatively large way and I personally give major props for doing that because it's not very often that the life of unknown people gets celebrated in such nice ways.

Fair enough, I don't agree with it though.

I guess I need to just sit down with a tissue box, watch Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and let everything out. Inside my rough exterior is a warm gentle soul, probably.

P.S. No, not fapping to Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, nobody ask me for videos, thanks

Watch Biggest Loser instead, way more satisfying if you need an emotional boost to get you through that menacing box of tissues...

It's a repetitive motion. All we need is a gif.

At lvl 16 right now, I like the game. The shooting is fun, and the dialogues actually made me giggle quite a few times, which is extremely rare for a game.

I kinda regret taking the Assassin class, though. His Action Skill looks pretty underpowered compared to the others.

It is, especially at lower levels. From what I understand though once you get leveled up enough and find a good Cooldown relic it can actually be quite boss if you invest enough in the Bloodshed tree. The biggest problem with it Imo is that you can't extend the amount of time without killing someone and 15 seconds may not be enough time to get to someone and kill them depending on when you trigger it.

I am Zer0 also but I really only use Deception when I'm close to death and need a moment to get out of hairy situation and regen my shield a little. Right now I'm at lvl 32 and have used all my points in the Sniping tree so I usually just sit back and snipe while my buddy (who plays Axton) gets up close and personal; especially now that he has the double turret skill unlocked.

Really? I fuckin loved Diablo 1 and 2, which is exactly the reason why I like Borderlands. It is indeed Diablo with guns; that's the appeal.

Anyway, on to what I came here to say: I fucking love this game. I find it much more enjoyable than both the first Borderlands and much better adventure/rpg/looting game than Diablo 3.

Not only does it play better than Diablo 3, but it lasts longer, has a better story, and has an awesome sense of humor, while at the same time being much more believable when things gets serious. I found myself not giving a shit when something serious happened in Diablo 3, but in Borderlands 2, when things suddenly turn grave and somber, you can really feel it. That and the main antagonist of BL2 has infinitely more character than Diablo. There's not much to care about when the main enemy says is "My minions will destroy you!" "Drown in terror!!" and "Wallow in your own terror!" etc. Handsome Jack, on the other hand, is hilarious, [somehow] likeable, and the biggest piece-of-shit-dickhead who ever deserved to be murdered.

Definitely an improvement over the first Borderlands, which hardly had any story at all. It was still a fun game, but pretty much everything that it was missing has been added in this sequel, and everything that was already fantastic is improved.

That's my two cents and a haypenny for you.

I wrote that post you quoted before trying the game. 20 hours into it, at lvl 25, I actually agree with you. Borderlands 2 has some of the best writing I've seen in a while. It's all humorous and wacky until serious shit goes down, and then you really feel the sting. It's brilliant how those two sides don't feel disjointed but blend together totally naturally.

Like that Tina girl. You laugh at her batshit insanity and wackiness until that mission where you help her capture and torture Flesh Stick. Then you find out the reason she's so fucked up is because Flesh Stick tortured and killed her parents before her very eyes when she was younger and you're kinda "Oooh... yeah, I probably shouldn't have laughed".

Quote:

Oh, this, definitively.
"I just bought a real diamond pony. What should I name him? I was thinking 'piss-for-brains' in honor of you, but that kinda lacks class. Uh, I know. BUTT STALLION!"

Yeah, Borderlands 2 is a vast improvement over number 1. I was so bored with the original I couldn't even fathom finishing it, but number 2 may even get more than one run.
