All these bullshit comments definitely apply to Thrashless. Crashing in like a wrecking ball through an out of date children's hospital, Awaiting Rebirth thrashes forward with an assault of vicious riffs and explosive drumming. Spine-mashing vocals complete the experience, and allow this record to rise above the stagnated scene that is revivalist thrash.

Now that that's over, let's get down to business. When I first read the band and album name, I was expecting some nice, depressive funeral doom. While disappointed in that aspect, the album certainly didn't let me down. The mix of death and thrash reminds me a lot of Sepultura. Erratic blastbeats and buzz saw riffs further the Sepul-esque experience. While not being the most original album out there, after several listens I still find something interesting every time, whether it be a groovy riff or a cool drum fill. This being said, the album in its entirety does tend to get a little too extended.

The production does not help this album's case either. The "home-made" sound is almost a quality I look for in music. DIY production is always more interesting than over-the-top plastic sounding production. However, there are times, like this, when I can only feel like a better production quality would have greatly improved the experience. The drums sound clumpy at points. The riffs become too quiet and the vocals over power them. However, these are both overshadowed by my biggest gripe ? the snare. Oh sweet Jesus on a candlestick does that "poppy" sound start to get annoying. It may not be as bad as St. Anger, but it's definitely in the top 10 list of the most annoying snare sound ever.

The overall package comes together nicely though; it's quite a solid package of death/thrash. Maybe a little forgettable, but it's definitely one to hear.
