This is the kind of news we need. Wonderful! I discovered Amorphis with Queen of Time and ruthlessly devoured their back catalog. Definitely psyched for more.

These guys aged like fine wine. Every new album is at least as good as the one before. Impeccable discography... apart from Far From The Sun eheh

True story: the Amo guys nicknamed the demo that became "Escape" on The Beginning of Times "Love Machine" because the riff reminded them of the WASP song.

If they are doing arrangements, then I imagine the songs will go to Pekka Kainulainen for lyrics before Tomi Joutsen starts working on vocal melodies.
I'm wondering if Tomi Koivusaari will have any songs to contribute this go-around. I've always liked his contributions.

The last one was pretty disappointing after the rather excellent "Under The Red Cloud." Hopefully this new album will be a return to form.

Yes, even I had the same opinion. Under the red cloud was really good. But that bee album was quite meh.

I congratulate you on your superior foresight regarding power metal, but what does that have to do with Amorphis?

Yeah, Amorphis seemingly has an impenetrable lock on the heavy/melodic category whenever they release an album, but they have left power metal untouched to date

Amorphis have been steadily nominated in the heavy / melodic metal category and since Silent Waters they have been winning it every time. Nominating them in power metal would be a whole new level of taking the piss. It would be too controversial even for us.
