Well after some thinking, I realized that many Metalstormers use [url=http:www.facebook.com]Facebook[/url]. For those who don't know what Facebook is, is is kind of like MySpace, but less emo. It is set up more for connections and sharing quick thoughts. This site has become more popular than MySpcae amoung college age folks, and is growing faster all the time.

One nice thing Facebook offers is the abilities to form groups, so I took the liberty to make one for all of us here at Metalstorm.ee (oh gosh, I hope that is cool with the staff!). This will also be a way for members here to get to know each other better as Facebook can keep up updated on what your friends are doing.

Am I dreaming or is this site asking for my password to my email account? Right, I can skip that step, but still that's quite a surprise a site other than that of the email company dares asking for this...

I wouldn't have anything against you or anyone creating a Metal Storm group, as far as it doesn't mention "official" (and best if it reads "unofficial").
One problem with this group you created is all the "Related groups" we may not want to be related to. On our MySpace, I've rejected all the invites to groups we received.

Now I don't like such sites, even MySpace, but the latter is probably the best when it comes to bands. Somehow I prefer making friends directly here on Metal Storm.

Yeah I was pretty shocked when I saw that too, but I can assure you its trustworthy (ive been part of facebook for a while now and I have had no problems with my email) its just a really convienient way of adding all your friends that are on your MSN list or what not.

BTW, very cool idea, ill be joining the group momentarily.

OH yeah, the e-mail thing. Wrathchild, Facebook was first set up for Harvard U. students only, so you needed one of their e-mail accounts to join. Then it became all the IV and Boston schools, then all colleges. So only those with an .edu e-mail could join. It is now open to the public.

I have been using it for over two years and have never gotten any spam from the site.

As much as I'm reluctant to spend too much time on Facebook, I guess this is a decent enough idea, makes it a lot cooler too! I'll be joining in a second.

facebook is great. an MS group over there is a good idea.

but like wrath says, make sure people know it is an "unofficial" one for the MS community - none of the staff would be running it like we do the myspace site

Yeah, I prefer Facebook over myspace as well. I've only had my facebook account for a short period so far after a friend convinced me to join, assuring me that it was better than myspace. And it indeed is much better than myspace... better privacy options, nicer features and generally better people. It's particularly good for finding old friends. Anyway, I've requested to join the MS group as well.

Facebook is awesome! its better than that myspace. Gordana got me to join facebook and im so glad she did. i find that myspace is the kiddy version of facebook. i still have friends on myspace but ill be using facebook more now
