One of the most brutal outfits in the Death scene comes back with a more technical scheme, I remember Grindethic Records sending me their debut, and if I remember correctly I was blown away by its brutal madness and chaotic songwriting...oddly enough now its the complexity and overall technicality what makes this album so interesting and special, one of 2007's most amazing Brutal Death records for sure.

There were not that many Brutal Death releases anyway, but the fact is that Defeated Sanity manages to stand out and create a very dynamic album, most of the songs are very well crafted in both the intricate songwriting and the insanely brutal plateau, the BDM fanatics will inmediately feel welcomed with the insane blast-beats and the mammoth hostility, all those things that we're used to get with this kind of metal are all here waiting to break our bones in 3 different places...

...That's maybe the big issue with "Psalms Of The Moribund", the music could easily fit in the last Disgorge (US) CD; while the songwriting is incredibly coherent and the execution is utterly tight, the final product sounds oddly similar to all things brutal. It has been proven by bands like Suffocation and Cryptopsy that Tech Brutal Death Metal can be really versatile and fun, but it's just a matter of taste, some of them stick with the newer formula and just slay and destroy from the beginning to the end, just like Defeated Sanity does in this album, fortunately they choose a more interesting path instead of the Deeds Of Flesh way of being brutal just for the sake of it.

It's a great album none the less, I just wish I could talk about the production, layout, lyrics (if there are any in the booklet) and design to complete this review entirely, but as the label only sent a CD-R I have to limit myself in the making; so, the music is great I don't know anything about the rest...
