The Netherlands has given the world plenty of solid-to-great symphonic metal. New listeners investigating the genre will never run out of recommendations by the old-timers. The latter may rightfully say that After Forever were excellent, Epica are as majestic as their name suggests, Delain have some wonderful albums, and Within Temptation are also a band. With all due respect to those artists, my recommendation is to start with the best symphonic metal album from The Netherlands in recent memory. That album is Neverus’ debut Burdens Of The Earth.

Great album, has feeling of the 90's neoclassic bands + more modern melodeath...

Very impressive debut! Great riffs, vocals and song arrangement. This band has a bright future for sure.

This is quite an impressive and enjoyable debut album, it has a great flow with pretty cool melodies, catchy choruses, decent songwriting, and a solid production too. The last track stands out most though.

From what I've read in comments and reviews and seen in ratings, most users on Metal Storm love melodic and symphonic stuff. It's surprising to me that this isn't rated higher, in light of that impression. There's practically nothing to complain about with this album and band. And literally every element deserves a lot of praise. I'd say this album is totally underrated. The last album with major symphonic elements that I enjoyed this much was Wilderun's Veil Of Imagination. This album is truly excellent. For a debut, it's insanely good.

I see what you mean, something can have all the right elements in place, and still just not click for some reason. Clearly this one has clicked with you though, so I'll definitely give it a relisten in the coming days.

That's what happened to me when I listened. It has some lovely moments (especially "One For Blood"), but something is not quite...right. Perhaps what they write is so close and yet too far from their influences that it alienates listeners fond of those influences Atavistia is the only band I know that nailed and perhaps surpassed (in some ways) extreme power à la Wintersun.

I had the fortune to witness these guys in a "battle of the bands" contest in Rotterdam, I think this was in 2024. I was very impressed by them and just had to support their work by buying their album and merch. It's a very good album, especially keeping in mind that this is a debut. Great vocalist (also live!) and very solid song structures and writing. Also not unimportant: they are genuinely nice guys and they were supper happy with my enthusiasm and support.

It's a shame they lost said battle to a thrash metal band that didn't quite impress me as much... I'm looking forward to their future releases!
