Apocalyptica again? You already caught them in early December, right?

I'm going to see Symphony X tonight in Lyon. The great thing is that I'm working right next door to the Transbordeur, which means I can get there directly after work and relax to some good metal instead of taking the subway back home. I've never seen SX before so I'm pretty excited

Oh Cyrille, I'll be in Paris on March 15th. I'm having a free day while my girlfriend is having massages/hammam/etc. at the Grande Mosquée. So if you're around, we could go have a couple of beers or coffee during the afternoon

Hehe, yeah, saw them in November, and I can't get enough

I'm seeing SX tonight, not very excited in fact but at least some of my friends will be coming, and will be coming to Apocalyptica tomorrow (you can't imagine how much this one gig drilled my wallet down, for I have invited my friends).

And don't worry, since March 15th is a Saturday, we'll get to empty some beers together

There's not much around in Lyon at the moment. My next one is Nightwish on April 10, but I'm going just for the hell of it really. I'd love to see a good ol' brutal show, but the Vader/Septic Flesh date here was cancelled, so it looks like I'll have to wait till Hellfest to finally catch a cool show...
There's still Benighted, Infectious Grooves and Sick Of It All at Reperkusound and The Old Dead Tree and The CNK at the Lyon Metal Fest, but the rest of the line ups for these two fests quite suck. I'll probably go anyway.

Hey welcome home son! I happen to live in Lyon I don't think there's any big show already for this period, but Dying Fetus and Cult Of Luna are in the works. BUT, and it's a big but, there's about 3/4 underground metal shows a week around here.

I'm always up for drinks in pubs, of which Lyon has plenty. You're gonna like it there dude, Lyon is a very cool city

Mainly hardcore and brutal stuff. There's a couple of really good underground bands here. Lyon has quite an active metal scene compared to much of the rest of France.

I'll be visiting Paris in about 1.5 weeks so I was wondering if anyone can reccommend me some good record stores in Paris (stores that might sell more obscure and also used stuff would be especially appreciated)? The last time I was in Paris I managed to find only some über-mainstream stores that didn't carry any metal music (Then again I didn't have much oppurtinity and time to look around then, so that might explain why didn't I find anything, I should have plenty of time this time).

I know there used to be a street in the whereabouts of Pigalle that had a good half-dozen little metal record stores seeling all kinds of underground stuff. Last time I was in Paris I spent two hours searching but couldn't find them although I was quite sure to be in the right street. They were the only underground stores I knew. Hopefully the MSers from Paris may be able to help you a little more.

Hum, I know of a street near Pigalle underground station that is home to a dozen music stores, but they only sell instruments. And I guess I haven't been curious enough to search for a better place to buy CDs than the almighty FNAC Forum...

I think it's in that street with lots of instruments stores that in 2001 before going to an ACDC show we found so many cd stores. But I find it odd that they would all have been closed down...

hey frenchie , did you listen the new Ultra Vomit's album ? i heard 2 song , that make me laugh , try on their myspace the songs "Je ne t'ai jamais autant aimé" and "Quand j'etais petit" it's less death than the other album , but still fun .

Oh btw, I finally listened to this album, and I had to stop after three songs... Because I was laughing hysterically in the bus and people were starting to watch me with slight unease It's much better than their debut, and it's probably the most hilarious album I've heard for a very long time. The lyrics are just so funny (Les Bonnes Manières and Mountains Of Maths, oh my God LOL). I think it's the first time I hear a parody band that sounds good. Very fun album!

I finally listened to it too. I've heard good feadback of this new album and I wanted to listen to it even I'm not a huge fan of this kind of metal.
I was wrong, I admit it, mea culpa. The band members have improved a lot their playing compared to their previous stuff, and this album is funny and far to be bad. A big surprise for me. I will not listen to this new album all the day, but it's a good moment of fun.

Why, oh why, am I not surprised at all? I even found it strange that noone already threw the usual " people who listen to metal are nazis and satanists" to get rid of Hellfest. Poorly informed people are much more dangerous and subversive than a couple thousand music fans, as drunk and weird-looking as they may be.

I'm agree with you on that point.
I conceive that for a non-informed people, the metal can be supposed as barbaric music. But this kind of associations you listen to metal, you are systematically a satatist, or a nazis, or better, both of them, it is completely stupid.

Well, me to, there are associations in France trying to forbid bands as Impaled Nazarene to play because of satanism and anti-christianism so it's very lucky that we don't have any trial against Clisson's Hellfest!!!
