How long have you been listening Karlabos ?

About 13 or 14 years I think.

However in the first ones I still didn't have internet home, so I was of those who would buy a random metal album at the store withour having listened to it and would have to learn to like it, since there wasn't really much option =p
Plus, after there was internet I still didn't know how to even use google properly. I remember struggling to find a damn Rammstein discography which in the end I had to ask to a friend of mine, because I couldn't find it. It turns out I'd just listen an re-listen to the same albums over and over again on that time...

I consider I started having the hobby to actually search for music in about 10 years or so...

About 14-15 years now. Although I did go through a period in my early 20's where I listened to very little metal.

Depends if you count Skid Row or not... Assuming not, then I would say 27 years since ...And Justice for All was released.

I always heard AC/DC and stuff like that on the radio, but never really "listened to metal" or realized it was something I liked better than most other music until age 9.

I've been listening to metal, among many other styles, for almost 36 years, but for the last 5, 85% of what i listen is extreme metal.
I think it's weird, the older i get the more i like...

I started to listen to metal/rock properly when I stumbled across "Tommy Vance Friday Rock Show" on the radio back around 1984, been addicted to metal/rock since then.

I started listening less than two years ago, I'm able to trace it back to September 2014 from one of my old forums. As a child I listened to tons of nu-metal like Linkin Park, Disturbed, etc because my dad listened to those, but I never went any further. I could never get into the 80's metal, and to this day I still can't. But I was trying to jump ship from a sinking electronic music scene, and was desperate to go to other genres. One of my all-time favorite electronic groups, Pendulum, made a (surprisingly good) collab with In Flames. So I dived in headfirst to Come Clarity and was hooked.

It's funny seeing my old posts, referring to Amorphis and Wintersun as "pretty alright" and I only listened to In Flames, Soilwork, Arch Enemy, Machine Head, and The Unguided. I still really like the first four.

I didn't listen to metal back then. I didn't claim they were metal, I just said they opened the window for me to metal. Same aggression and distorted riffs as metal. Now I listen to metal.

Please knock off the condescending attitude. You are judging me for what I listened to when I was 8 years old, and saying that what I listened to back then means I don't listen to metal now, even though I don't really listen to nu-metal any more. If I wanted my entire taste to be invalidated based on one or two bands, let alone two bands I listened to when I was fucking EIGHT, I would have gone to the Metal Archives or any of my old forums. EDIT: Misunderstanding, cleared up now.

By what definition is Disturbed not metal?
