The question "why God didnt save me ?" is stupid, old-fashioned and respectedly too much kiddy-like... that question is like "why God doesnt give me money ?" or "why God doesnt give me a girlfriend/boyfriend/goodlife..." ? It is simply, you are judged by God then how you had acted in your life, you get what you give, you get your karma.... God is both divine and an universal paranormal unexplained force that all of human race 'til now have not understood yet... life/fate/destiny is still a question without an answer. Nowadays human age of 5000 years still need more time to research more in the future with more later generation to find the answer. I'm a religious fanatic, but I'm sure if you wonder "why God doesnt save you or doesnt give you a nice fate" is very very "newbie" to religion or from the cynic never read a bible or philosophy... God is something far too understand, and religion has tried to explain God but actually gone to the way of a life-style philosophy rather than the truth explanation about God,... I'm a God believer and proud, it is hard too speak what from my mind, because of my bad English, but to sum up all the opinion/cynic/critic/anti/pro about God and even religion, simply: you bash or appreciate God because you Fear of DEATH and want to remove that fear in your current Life...

I don't know why do all the posts here are either extremely anti-god, or extremely pro-god. The question was as simple as asking about which religion you belong to... (maybe that guy was making a research about metalheads and religion or something i dunno), but i can't understand why does the debate has to escalate to a size level than it is. If i was god -hypothetically- i wouldnt give a crap if people believed in me and "prayed" to me or even thanked me for my blessings and gifts to them as long as they do "good" and follow my "rules" ... and since these "rules" are now a common understanding between humans, and it already formed our current "ethics" and most of it is mandated by law, so why bother fighting bout religion, if religion tells you not to steal, not to kill, not to rape, not to lie, not to do any "bad" stuff, even if you dont believe in god its already illegal to do so, so.. i think god wins eventually weather you -or we- like it or not

13.01.2012 - 00:41 Written by Troy Killjoy on 12.01.2012 at 22:40 This is a very awkward conception. I never thought God relied on anything. Unless God is like a shop owner who relies on the income that he gets thanks to the clients. Written by Zombie on 12.01.2012 at 16:17 I don't remember the name of that saint but she said that "When I'm before the Lord one day, He's most probably not going to ask how many times I went to the church, how frequently I said my prayers and whatnot. He's going to ask me how many times I helped those who needed it, how many times I was good and kind towards people around me and things like that..." My bro's dad was once invited to do a "prayer marathon" with the ladies who visit a local church. He was amused and also annoyed by this because it was evident that the ladies were all just wasting their time saying their empty prayers just in order to say the prayers and to show off what good and decent Christians they are. Nevertheless, he did all the "marathon" with them. The ladies told later that "This is surprising. You're the only male so far who's managed to complete it." Yeh, really... what's the point? Is there a prize or a level-up now or something? And how does it make a person a better Christian?

13.01.2012 - 00:46 Written by Ernis on 13.01.2012 at 00:41 That's the way I see it. Or at least that's how Zeus and co. is presented. Maybe the Christian god doesn't rely on prayer but to my knowledge gods are given power from the mortals that pray to them.

13.01.2012 - 00:51 Written by Troy Killjoy on 13.01.2012 at 00:46 Zeus and co. are also presented as being basically human, just with superpowers and immortality. Other than that, they all have their bad habits, their weak spots and they sometimes like to cause problems to people just because it's fun. Christian God, however, cannot be viewed as a human being with superpowers but as something superior and unexplainable that is the endless source of power. Therefore, it's more logic that people get power from God instead of the other way around.

13.01.2012 - 00:53 Written by Ernis on 13.01.2012 at 00:51 That's actually quite a logical explanation... maybe I just don't like the way a god operates and I think they should fuck around with people more often. Even better, fuck around with other gods. Like Loki.

13.01.2012 - 00:54 Written by Troy Killjoy on 13.01.2012 at 00:53 It's interesting though because actually many Christians, even myself (when in a bad mood), sometimes tend to think of God as of a bloke somewhere out there who can make good things happen when he's having fun and causing problems when he's in a bad mood. Like us...

Same as Viggo, I dont think God need prayer to him, probable we human think we need/should and are forced (this unknown consciously) to pray to God, some does for religious, some does to like be recognized or have something back. If God has the power, he just... do the thing he wants like Zeus, fornicating, having sex, and all things just fun around, lol,... but actually I think if God has the power, he doesn't care or doesn't need the approvement that sent through the prayers' message.

Where is God's church? Jesus Christ said, "I will build my church..." not "churches", "fellowships", "sects", "denominations" or "communities of believers." Free literature offer. Learn today. Taken from the ad above this thread. The idea's good tho...

Though I can see the point Troy mean why God without followers is weak God. God is powerful strong, he need weaker to rule, the strong rule the weak... Though if the strong is the strong then definitely they will extinguish dead off to the weak in the end, for their stronger race survive rule. then well, no prayer needed if not wanted.

Atheism! I was born into a Catholic family and unfortunately that was forced upon me when I was baptised. But I'll soon look into apostasy because I don't want any links to Christianity, or any religion for that matter.

22.04.2012 - 13:14 Written by Troy Killjoy on 13.01.2012 at 00:46 Terry Pratchett, "Small Gods". Kickass book which explores that notion. I made the switch to atheist some time ago. I can't remember what triggered it but I just woke up one morning and decided I won't say "does religion matter? I refuse to decide or even think about it" to anyone who asks. I still do believe religion shouldn't matter in anything, but I've realized it does matter to me personally to identify as a person who doesn't believe in a god. Because I don't. And knowing that empowers me.

Account deleted Written by X-Ray Rod on 22.04.2012 at 16:46 Yeah I guess I don't either. For me coming to that realisation is basically accepting and believing that when we die we're gone and forgotten (eventually). No afterlife. No reincarnation. Nothing. The realisation that there's no such thing as a soul, that our mind is just a mechanism for keeping our body alive in some freak motion of evolution. Pretty depressing if anything.

It's not nice, it's not sad, it's not a realisation that affects me in any way... I don't get or lose power. Because I will be fucking dead. Account deleted Written by X-Ray Rod on 22.04.2012 at 18:43 You say that now but as you grow older the fear of death may creep upon you as your mortality is made all the more apparent ;] I think you'd have to be pretty nihilistic not to fear losing everything you have (i.e. your existence and all the joys that come with it), especially as "nothingness" is not something one can "imagine" easily as such. It's more summed up by simply not having or being aware of anything. If you were told tomorrow you have terminal cancer you'd be pretty mortified I would think.

I don't think anyone at your age can really know for sure how you feel about death until you get to around my age. Not that that's meant to sound condescending, like when people suggest that I'm too young to decide whether or not I really want children (those people can fuck off).

It's like when there's a debate about euthanasia and one of the persons in the debate says "well, what will you say if your mother is in a coma, HUH?!". That doesn't really help. Nobody (except the suicidals) wants to die... Im just talking about the idea of no god...no something, nothing. That isn't the same as the life you are having. It's the fact of losing the things you have that REALLY scares me, not what there's afterwards. Written by [user id=4365] on 22.04.2012 at 18:53 Trying to imagine you as a father is fucking hilarious. Yet the future is something we can't predict.
