I haven't read anything from before and after the Star Wars movies. I have got acquainted of things, happenings of these dates through other sources but not by reading actual works from them. It is more like reading a summary of what happens in those works. I would read these works but the Expanded Universe of Star Wars is huge and I neither have the money nor ability of reaching those works. This means that you have some advantage over me.
Still I know some things that happened prior, between and after the movies like part of the lives of Darth Maul and Darth Sidious lives, how were Obi-Wan's trials, the Clone Wars and things that happened with the lives of our heroes after the "Return of the Jedi". Things like knowing that Chewbacca made a family, that he died an a son of his took the life debt Chewbacca had with Han Solo as his own, that Han and Leia married and expected twins, that Leia learns of the Force, that look reestablishes the Jedi Order, that Darth Sidious is resurrected by a Sith Lord which appears later on, etc., etc. I know of other things but it is hard to bring everything right now.
That duel of Darth Maul against Qui-Gonn Jinn and Obi-Wan was indeed eye candy. It had to be since it took almost a month to be filmed. :[

Oh, I see. My young apprentice, be mindful of your thoughts, they betray you for I have not played that game. lol Most of what I know I saw from comics, I heard from a friend which knew about it in a way that stays in the dark for me and by looking for it in the Internet. In fact, the only videogames from Star Wars of which I have had the honor of playing have been Star Wars Battlefront (the latest one) and Lego Star Wars which is a summary of the first three episodes in a Lego form. Even when this last game I mentioned, Lego Star Wars, seems to be pretty lukewarm, I assure you that the game is very enjoyable.

quite right,my young (and romanian ) apprentice
your post as well your signature denote a strong influence of the force in you...
and as i'm a big (not hardcore though) sw fan,i'll post the full quote,as i memorized it(what scorus wanted to say;return of the jedi,dagobah,dagobah system )
you told me his apprentice killed my father(something like this)
and that was true,from a point of view.you will find that many realities depend on the point of view(yoda:yes,yes,listen to obi-wan you must!!)

@scorus:
My friend, there is more than what the movies show, the Star Wars universe is huge because of its Expanded Universe. If you think it is enough to watch the movies I will ask you two quick questions. How does Papatine get to be kidnapped, how was his capture? Why is General Grievous coughing all the time?
@cursed:
quite right,my young (and romanian ) apprentice
Yeah, I forgot that little detail.
your post as well your signature denote a strong influence of the force in you...
Oh, good observation, good observation it is. The "force" that Star Wars is I would say. lol
@scorus & cursed:
I think, at least this is what my memory tells me by now, that that quote is from the conversation between Chancellor Palpatine and Anakin Skywalker. We must understand that this conversation had the intentions of Darth Sidious in turning Anakin into the dark side of the Force and therefore it is full of deceit, tricks in making Anakin to doubt and consider the possibility of turning into Sidious' new apprentice.
In reality, there is only one truth but it can be comprised of different points of views which can merge into one. For example, a person that believes in human beings evolving from apes can be as right as a person which believes that God created us (if this is the case) because maybe God used the evolution process in order to create us humans (if this is the case). But, in the other hand, a person that believes we were just an accident in this World, that we appeared independently of the initiative of another being, cannot be as right as someone who believes that we were created. Only one of them will hold the truth, but who does? Truth exists but independently of the human awareness in several cases. Even if we ignore the truth it doesn't take the fact away that it is right there, waiting to be discovered.
P.S. I am seeing a tendency of Romanian guys, of the age 16, in getting into Star Wars. lol

nevermind my last post here, it's a "joke post"...i'll answer the questions(please don't think i googled'em, )
his capture=dooku
why he gets "kidnapped"=setup to get obi-wan kenobi and/or anakin killed(dooku's vision),or palpatine's vision(get dooku and maybe obi-wan kenobi killed)
why is general grievous coughing all the time?because the only "biological organ" in his body is his heart,and he has heart problems or something...

You couldn't resist the urge of answering even when they were meant to prove that you can't tell how those events happened with relying in the Expanded Universe. lol Those are good assumptions I would say except for your kidnapped guess which, even when it can be part of the reason of why, was meant to answer the "how" and not the "why" of his abduction. The answers to this would be in the "Clone Wars" animated episodes.

Star Wars is great, but my favorite SF is Star Trek. I'm also a huge fan of SW, especially the original trilogy. The worse SW would be Episode II. I just hate that romantic crap in the movie.
ROTS was good.
I also saw the cartoon "Clone Wars" and it's good.

@Jester Eddie:
They never grow old, do they? Yeah, that sucked so much, I mean, who could have thought that Anakin would turn into the dark side of the Force and become Darth Vader? It is totally unexpected and sucky.
Just for the people who didn't know and that would mind giving their opinions: I made this video from Star Wars using several scenes from the first three movies (the new ones: I, II, III), video that deals with Anakin's conversion to the dark side using the "The Unforgiven" song from Metallica.
You can watch the video here:

Comments are more than welcomed.

Thanks a lot dude! In fact, the solo was what made me chose that song for the video.
If you enjoy watching animated music videos, you can take a look at other video contributions and suggestions from other Metalstormers at this thread I created in this forum. Here is the link:

@Darth Satanius: gosh, that video gave me shivers! Seriously, I cried in the end. Combining one of my favourite bands and one of their favourite songs with my absolutely fave movie... I mean, it's amazing, really! The way Anakin looks and all the most tender parts of The Unforgiven pop out and the fight in the end...

Star Wars, hm, I have seen two movies. I kinda like them, but I am not really into Star Wars besides that. The movies were nice, and overall they showed a nice development in the storyline, and a nice, slightly philosophical plot. I have no ideas what the name of the movies are. Oh well, it is fun to watch them, but not something I would really spend money on or anything..

@Blackgir: You son of a Bitch. (Just Kidding )
But anyway, I love Star wars, I have been watching it from a young age. I have seen all six movies, and My favorite of the origional three (4,5, and 6) is Return of the Jedi. My favorite of the new ones (1,2, and 3) is Revenge of the Sith. and when I was in grade School, I used to read the Junior Jedi Knight series, which I now remember almost nothing about. These movies Are Science fiction classics, and it also touches on some, believe it or not, very real aspects of spiritual philosophy. Did I forget to mention that I love starwars?

Ah well, I haven't been around for a while Huh, I really feel the need to see another SW movie again, now I was in a state where my burning passion for it died a bit But nonetheless SW will FOREVER (yes, I daresay FOREVER!) remain my fave series of films. Anyone here watches Chad Vader?

And not to forget the swordsmanship which, as Lucas pointed out himself, was meant to be an adaptation of the Samurai sword fights but with a focus in carrying the blade with both hands. It is curious to see how Lucas resorts to Roman history as text when creating the history by basing it in the take of power of a politician by staying in office more than what he was meant to. Ironically, history repeats itself over and over again and human repeat the same actions and mistakes; or at least that is one of the messages that I get out of it in this case.
