Here is the topic where, like in the old forum, American Metalstormers can congregate and talk about metal and what is happening in their state. Hope y'all have fun!

Greetings from Seattle! The land of rain, mountains, trees, Starbucks and Alice in Chains

The local metal scene is Seattle is mostly hardcore, death, screamo, etc. There are several good melodic and prog metal bands though, so maybe there is hope for a "scene" here

I'm from Seattle too. I'm liking the music scene here, especially Embalmed. Are you going to the NW Death Fest?

Down in Atlanta I saw In Flames, As I Lay Dying and Killswitch Engage at one show, then another I saw Arch Enemy, Cradle Of Filth, Himsa and Bleeding Through. I bet Nevermore was awesome....

Well, I am trying to get some differnt Metal Bands to come to Montreat next year as part of The Flame Within's outreach. You are more than welcome to come to any of those shows.

Sure thing, would love to go. My ride situation is a little sketchy though. If my friends would want to go, I could. Otherwise, I'm out of luck....

HEY!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fellow Seattlite That makes 4 of us MS'ers. No I probably won't go to the NW Death fest, I'm not enough of a fan of death metal to spend money/and time on it Maybe if Nile played another show here I'd make an effort. I'm holding out for Kamelot and Blind Guardian! Two great shows to look forward to this fall.

I hail from the great state of Massachusetts near the city of Worcester, where you'll find a shitty emo band at every turn...

... though I do admit that I'm not particularly deep in the local metal scene, myself.

Infernal hails from central Florida! (I'm from a town in Lake County. We have over 10,000 named lakes in the area, hence the name, but I bet no one here knows where that is hehehe) As you all know, Florida is home of death metal, notably Obituary, Deicide, and Cannibal Corpse!

I believe there is a noticable hardcore/metalcore scene here, at least that's what I run into from people a lot.

What's up? I love in central Florida myself, Orlando to be exact. And your right about the metal/harcore stuff here. Too many kids wrapped up in their self image to like good music IMO. I know for a fact from my drummer, that the Tampa area has an unusally high concentration of black metal bands, and a lot of them are actually really good. Something in the strawberries I guess. One of which is my drummer's brother's band...check them out.

I live in the awesome city of Chicago (well, technically, I have to cross the street to get there) Regardless of what you might have heard, Chicago is an awesome place, especially for metal. A bunch of good local bands,(a couple of the big names are Usurper and Enforsaken) and shows are always coming through here. The Unholy Alliance tour will be at the Aragon Brawlroom in 3 days and its gonna be amazing.

I hail from the Grim and Frostbitten landscape of Southern Arizona. Ok, so it's not so Frostbitten...

Local scene? meh. Don't know if we have one. Too old, Too cold to care. Anything worthing going to is 100 miles away in Phoenix... where I will be going in three short weeks to see SLAYER and the other bands on the bill.

$300 is nothin. Some friends and I spend a shit load every year and then we all get together and lose our hearing for a week. I had to go to work today so I wasn't able to blow shit up all day, but after work I was able to see some crazy shit in downtown Seattle. There was a giant barge in Puget Sound with massively huge fireworks going off for 25 minutes.

Anyways, I escaped major injury yet again. I actually caught on fire lol, but I put it out quick. It burned a small hole in my Emperor shirt though. I also had some Black Cats that exploded in my hand, but that's a common situation for me. Some fuckers blew off some suped up M80's behind me, so my hearing got fucked, but I also was right next to a sparkler bomb which hurt my ears also. Good times.

Unfortunately, there were no pipe bombs this year.

No, but I didn't mind. The place was crowded and the rain made them all the tourists leave, so it wasn't bad.

Well, some friends and I brought a cooler of beer up to the roof of the local mall's parking lot, and we watched like, 5 different towns' fireworks from up there and got shitfaced. It was awesome. And it was nice to finally be able to watch/set off fireworks again after missing the festivities last year. We set off a bunch of quarter sticks at a park and pissed off a lot of people, which is always fun. Drank a lot of beer, and saw a lot of things go boom, it was great.

It was a good time  Tomorrow night we are gonna have a big get together for the UFC 61 : Bitter Rivals Pay Per View. We are gonna drink beers and blow something up with the rest of the fireworks that we have. Anybody else gonna watch the fights tomorrow night? Ken Shamrock is gonna get whooped again by Tito Ortiz, and hopefully Andrei Arlovski beats the dogshit out of Tim Sylvia. Sylvia is a punk and doesn't deserve the title.

The show turned out pretty darn crappy. Other than the first fight where some dude was bleeding all over the place, the rest of the fights sucked. Ortiz beat Shamrock in like, a minute, although there was a lot of controversy involved, and the Arlovski vs. Sylvia fight sucked. I went to Sounds of the Underground the day afterwards and got to meet the guys from Cannibal Corpse, and I got a cigarette from Jesper of In Flames.
