But to people who already watch the show, here's the place on MS to discuss it!
1st Discussion:
Your favourite of the 'mane' six and why
Your favourite background character and why
What are your thoughts on today's episode 'A Canterlot Wedding, Part 1'?

Just because you don't like it, and people are coming here changing the subject from the Original Post. It would be more acceptable deleting all posts that are basically moving this thread off topic, as it already is.

Come on guys.... don't hate, love and tolerate Written by [user id=122079] on 21.04.2012 at 13:13 I just watched both parts of A Canterlot Wedding. Yea it was Disneyesque, but still awesome and I think that's to be expected considering the main audience they're trying to market this show towards. Spike x Rarity is cute as long as it doesn't go too far. I don't want to think too much about how dragon x unicorn would work and Rarity seems too old for him

But not everyone seems to agree with your opinion of how a thread should operate. I still stand by my belief that grown men who somehow find any merit in MLP culture are in some way experiencing some sort of mental breakdown - even if only slightly. Peter Pan syndrome much.

Arguing against the people who are saying that watching MLP makes someone feminin would just lead me into rants about how I don't think people should make so much effort to conform to gender roles. And if someone watches MLP but is a responsible functioning adult who contributes to society, I see no reason why they deserve to be told by a kid on the internet, or anyone else for that matter, to grow the fuck up or assumed to have something wrong with them. Just for the sake of actually posting stuff about the show, and not just filling this thread with people either criticizing bronies or finding the need to justify why they watch it, here's another side of our beloved Fluttershy

23.04.2012 - 09:55 Written by Milena on 23.04.2012 at 09:43 We're not discussing whether or not we think it's cool or "acceptable" to watch cartoons. The argument is centered around brony culture and what it means for those involved with it. Obviously the OP didn't have it in mind to discuss such things as it was likely a place for him to try and mingle with other bronies or whatever but when you open a thread like this on a metal site you're not gonna get the same kind of support as a place like, I dunno, 4chan? And nobody's telling anyone what to do. The way I see it we're all discussing... My Little Pony. With that comes obvious questions, such as "What is brony culture and why does it exist?" And those questions usually lead to answers that in some form or another incite an argument. I checked out two episodes in light of being subject to massive MLP raids across the 'net, and thought... well, if it's getting all this random attention all of a sudden and I want to voice my opinion, I might as well see what the hell my opinion actually is. And my opinion is that this show is pretty decent stuff for young girls. I don't understand the support it has from grown men, nor do I understand how hordes of these young men can form some sort of online alliance and try to "overtake" the internet or whatever their common goal is. Assimilation, I assume.

23.04.2012 - 09:59 Written by Troy Killjoy on 23.04.2012 at 09:55 Except he clearly said he hated that term. Great popularity (achieved on the internet, much thanks to the bronie culture as well) means more people will check it out, and out of all the people that check it out, what's strange in having 20-year-old men like it? It has nostalgic value to them. If this thread was about girls liking Transformers or whatever, it wouldn't be that much of a fuss on a metal forum.

23.04.2012 - 10:03 Written by Milena on 23.04.2012 at 09:59 Well vezzy asked him why he dislikes the term, so I suppose we'll have an answer for that within the next 24 hours. But just because you don't like a term doesn't mean it no longer applies. That's like metalheads disliking being called a metalhead. Okay... you don't like it. But the description is accurate. As for a girl opening a Transformers thread... people would probably care more if that was a thing. But it's not. MLP being virtually worshiped by large groups of men, however, is.

23.04.2012 - 10:08 Written by Troy Killjoy on 23.04.2012 at 10:03 So we don't we go ask on whatever place the obsession originated from? But I think the answer would be something similar to, dunno, why does everyone like the trolololo guy? People started sharing it in masses and there's probably a lot of people (20-year-old men) who enjoy it completely non-ironically. Like the OP.

23.04.2012 - 10:15 Written by Troy Killjoy on 23.04.2012 at 10:11 Like I said, as for answering the question "why this show in particular?", you'd have to ask the people who came up with sharing it on the internet, although I doubt they'd know the answer.

The thing is it is hard for those who aren't fans to dislocate the fandom from the show itself. One ties in with the other given that the only experience most who aren't fans of the show have is of the fandom itself. I can understand the OP that this thread is about discussing the content of the show itself but when its placed in a public forum such as this you can't really expect there not to be a variety of differing opinions. As I was suggesting earlier, I imagine this thread will likely generate more of a negative rather than a positive one. No one is restricting anybody from discussing the cartoon. Just don't have unrealistic expectations of tolerance from everyone.

Although this thread does not violate anything and has no trouble staying here, I want to ask the OP: Why start a topic on a cartoon that is so massively prevalent to such a ludicrous degree that it has practically become one of the driving forces of the internet on a metal forum which does not conform in any way to the "laws" of the internet? With only a very small minority of fans, you could just frequent one of the googolplex pony sites or just PM convo about ponies? Once again, just asking. But Vezzy, faster than neutrinos you ask back, Why the fuck did you start topics on Serious Sam 3 and Postal III when no one cares? Well, you silly pest, it's because they're manly. Because ultraviolence on a metal forum. Also, people here seem to care enough to go on a long discussion about how much bronies suck more-or-less, including me. To be fair, some bronies have done good. When not drawing pornography of little girls' cartoons, they troll Ghost of True Capitalist Radio. So that's a plus.
