All that i know so far is that its gonna be at May 2009, only São Paulo.. but everyone has already started to guess which band wlll come.. the favorites are Metallica, Nightwish.. even Korpiklaani Im hoping for a lot o Folk metal!

I'm quite surprised brazilian metalstormers are keeping so silent about this, actually... I'd think people over there would be thrilled to receive one of the most prestigious Metal festivals.
What's wrong? Not enough information yet, or you guys still can't believe it's gonna happen?

Its because there is no Brazilian metalstormers to discuss with
So far we only have rumors about the bands and the exact date... other thing is that São Paulo is not that close from other regions in Brazil, from were i am it took about three days in a bus. Not to mention that its gonna be very expensive.
If more Brazilians from Sao Paulo posted here, the discussion sure would be better (where the hell is WildChild? ).
Another thing... its gonna be by may 09'... long time till there...

English and/or Spanish are teached (poorly) in particular schools... the public schools barely teach Portuguese, LOL.

The thing with Spanish is that it is so similar to Portuguese that there is no problem at all to comunicate, even if you never studied the language. People who never take a Spanish class in life can go to Uruguay, Paraguay or Argentina without problems.

If you ask in English you have to be REALLY lucky To find someone who speaks English is extremely rare even in states with decent educational system... If you ask in Spanish (and speak slowly so the words can be fully understand) you'll probably find an hotel. =D

I can understand something written in portuguese, but I can't when is spoken, only short sentences, maybe if it is spoken slowly.

I can understand something written in portuguese, but I can't when is spoken, only short sentences, maybe if it is spoken slowly.

I have a little trouble with spoken Spanish as well, especially the Argentinean who always seem to speak faster... But as I told K7, Spanish and Portuguese speakers will hardly not be able to communicate with each other, even with little knowledge about the other language. When talking calmly there's no mistake

The most common way to learn English here is through linguistic institutions, but they are way too expensive.


I learned English playing MMRPG and watching Friends on Warner Channel -__-'

I learn from SAT TV and iun school (but I was lazy on lessens. garmmer and wrighting) since TV you know how speek nor type

Think I could never actually learn spanish, hard to pronounce and hard to understand.
I've tried to watch the spanish version of CNN... Impossible
French, dutch, german and even some finnish still sounds clearer in my ears, oddly enough.

What is odd to me is that I understand the Spanish speakers better than the Portuguese from Portugal... always tooks me a while to catch up with what they are saying ...

I would say that having a good understand of Dutch or German is more valuable for Portuguese speakers than Spanish or Italian, since the differences are way beyond.

Mostly of people who speak English in Brazil have learned it because they have some willpower to study... I never had English classes outside my regular school ( a public school, very bad teaching). Everything I know I have learned by my own, using music, movies and internet. Nowadays I can watch a movie in English without subtitles and understand it.

Depends. I learned (a-little-bit-almost-nothing) english playing video games and doing some english things in my childhood. Now I've learned (a-little-bit-maybe-something) english listening to metal and rock bands. Also, I SUCK when trying to speak enlish (and writting ).

Oh, and we don't sing in concerts. We do easy thing like screams and so on...

Same with me. I learned some easy sentences and grammar. The english lessons in brazilian schools are bad. Since the 5th grade, the school only taught me the "verb to be", and I don't know what this is...

English here in school is werry good , werry well, I was oly possible cominicate whit guets students from othe rcontries, thoses best grammer and typers was zero

Yeah, a Brazilian area in MetalStorm... I'm from São Paulo (born in Paraíba).

But in a Brazilian area, we can't speak portuguese? My english is a little 101...

Does anyone know any good metal bands that have lyrics in Brazilian Portuguese?

It depends on what you think is a good band. I like black metal, on that genre I know Luxúria de Lillith, Velho, Miasthenia, ...
There's also the ambient black metal band "Arvorar", but you probably wouldn't understand a word with that vocals...

Power and heavy scenes suck, I never found anything worthy... Well, but I'm not really into those genres anyway so... :p
You could specify which genre you want, maybe I will know more accurate recs then.
