I once played dungeons & dragons, long ago when I was like in 6th grade and I really got into it. we would play every recess, and during every free class. It was really cool, but since then I haven´t played again I t would be cool to do it at least one more time

@Tulkas : That's what I was talking about, you can get a 'glimpse' of your old D&D experience in Neverwinter Nights

Anyone knows the specification required (PC) for "Dark Messiah of Might And Magic" ?

I am a Final Fantasy junkie. Or were atleast when I was younger. I dont know why but I just find it hard to settle down and play nowadays. Other games I loved to play was Neverwinter Nights, Baldurs Gate 1-2 and Chrono Trigger, awsome games. I also play Xenogears on the PSX right now. A very good game.

Yes, and RPG thread! For me, I am a big time gammer.

I love D&D. Last year I ran a pretty decient D&D campaigne. The group, with the exception of myself, was made up of all first time players. It was so much fun teaching new people the game. Every Sunday night we would pile into my dorm room, wip out out dice and game for several hours. This went almost the whole school year.

Now, my all time favourite gamming experience was two years ago. My buddy Jason (known as "Poptart"), ran this awesome Star Wars RPG. The story was that everything in Star Wars happened, untill Luke gets the R2 and 3PO. He doesn't take the restaing bolts off, and the Troops find him. So Luke is dead, Liea is going to be killed. There is no Han. Oh yeah, Vader over throws Palpatine and become Emperor Vader...and then transfers is life into a clone of Anakin, so he is fucking evil and strong. SO we had to go and save the galaxy. Lucky for me, I was playing a Cearan Nobel. Yeah, when fighting happed, I ran away. But later in the game I got a Mecha. Fuck yeah. So it was an awseom year long game. Loved it.

This year I am running an Urban Archana game. So that is D20 Modern with D&D, based in the D20 Future setting. Yeah! Want to know more about it, just ask me.

Dungeons & Dragons (abbreviated as D&D or DnD) is a fantasy tabletop roleplaying game (RPG) published by Wizards of the Coast. The original Dungeons & Dragons, designed by Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson, was first published in 1974 by Gygax's company, Tactical Studies Rules (TSR). Originally derived from tabletop wargames, D&D's publication is generally regarded as the beginning of modern roleplaying games, and by extension, the roleplaying game & MMORPG industry.

I dont think you should know something about the game/background to play it, if that what you mean. You just have to run around, speak to people and discover the plot, the usual stuff

I'v got some troubles, would be neet if anyone could help me on this.
Ok so me and my friend are trying to play 'Baldurs Gate 2: Shadows Of Amn' and.. we can't, coz both of us got proxy (at least the game says thats why we cant)
What to do?
.............................................
I'v checked BG's readme file and found this:

Multiplayer Using a Proxy Server

When playing Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn through a proxy
server, you have only two options: you can have all players behind
the proxy server, or you can have one person behind the proxy
server with the other players outside the proxy server.

You must also set up the proxy server to work with the Direct
X networking protocol. Make sure you have the ports 2300-2400
and 47624 set up on the server for both "inbound" and "outbound"
messages on both "TCP" and "UDP" protocols.

Please in english.

Normally since you both are under proxy, it wouldn't be a problem, Try and check with someone else or ask your friend to do so.
There's another alternative but I never tried it, direct modem (IP ?) connection, you type the IP of the other player and vice versa.

Oh and if anyone is interested, Dark Messiah's of M&M's demo is available to download.

Has anyone ever played Lunar: Silver Star Story? That was a most excellent RPG on playstation, I'll tell you, there is nothing I can appreciate more in gaming than a good turn based adventure RPG with Super Nintendo graphics and a good storyline.

I know it, but honestly I wasn't that much impressed by it. And if you want a game with Super Nintendo graphics on the PSX, then Tales of Destiny is really the game to play. Super Nintendo music, graphics etc.

I think I'll head over to Amazon.com now. Thanks for the recomendation.

I really liked Lunar for what it was. Sure it wasn't the most imaginative storyline, but I think the strength in the game really lied in the characters. They all seemed to true to who they were supposed to be, I just kept getting more and more enthralled with the game. There's some really nice subtle humor in their two, and it's such great humor because it plays completely off the characters. Maybe Lunar isn't an A+ story, but the dialogue is fantastic.

I like games where the main accent is on dialogues and playing a character, interacting with the surrounding world, also a good story, memorable NPC and a variety of choices you can make and I don't like straight-forward games very much.

In my opinion, best computer RPG is Planescape: Torment, its fantastic, an excellent story, the party is very interesting and intriguing, the game is not combat oriented and there are countless possibilities of characters you can create and I think the game will be quite different depending on that, I completed it once and now I made a new character to explore some other possibilities. The videos in this game are good too and the game feels epic and mysterious and I like it.

Another favourite game series on computer for me is fallout. The world is very origininal and there are cool perks and conversations and quests and stories are good both in 1 and 2 part, it also has good dark humour and unique atmosphere and quite good possibilities to play a real character. I'm afraid Bethesda won't make 3 part very good, as far as I know, they're more commerce and mass and combat oriented, atleast I got such impression from Oblivion.

I've also played D&D a bit, started in autumn, I liked it very much, there's much more to it than PCRPGS because DM can create countless situations and interesting NPCs, and there I hav much better chance to "become" the character I'm playing
It was the first time all of us played, we'll probably start a new campaign sometime, probably in another world but so far I like D&D, I don't know why it is considered by some to be more dull and hacknslash oriented, you can create very role-playing oriented games there too, can't you?

I've also played some more combat oriented PCRPGS like Diablo, Oblivion, Titan Quest etc, they are quite good when I'm bored but I don't really get into them, atleast Oblivion has a rich world and a lot of books there that add depth.

Unfortunatly I'm pretty sure Bethesda will make a huuuuuuuuuuge monumental crap out of Fallout 3. A shame ...

Kudos for Planescape Torment !! I love that game so much... I specifically agree on the mystic atmosphere going on and the big amount of possibilities...Nordom is awesome.

I think there are 4 brilliant PC rpgs that probably will never be topped: first and foremost my fav games of all times, the original Fallout series, Planescape Torment, and finally overlooked and underrated Arcanum. All those games have interesting setting, brilliant story, immersive worlds, interesting characters and decent dialogues. Also, I've played Dungeons and Dragons, I was actually Pinusar's DM and though I was kind of lazy, improvised most thing on the spot, didn't have a central storyline, and I used a lot of retarded humour and sick stuff (once I had a secret meeting of necropaedophiles, of whom one killed a player character, and "raped" his corpse) it was lot of fun and I got positive feedback from the players after I had decided to finish the sessions, as they were stagnating, and also I wanted to try the role of player character.

Whoahah this is fucking awesome, yet another Arcanum fan, keep on coming!! I am most pleased. And grieved at the same time because Troika bankrupted or something similar.

@Raging Atheist, Aronax, etc : http://www.irontowerstudio.com/ I am followling Age of Decadence's news quite closely, I think we'll have our Arcanum sequel, but in a different way I hope it'll be good.

Interesting how a Fallout fan also likes Planescape and Arcanum, I notice that like 80% of times.
