Recommend metal albums from 2020:

Konvent - Danish lady death/doom. They had that nice primitive Derketa sound on the demo, not as much here but is sound quite good.

Demo from 2017.

Múspellzheimr - black metal in the vain of what Amor Fati has been releasing lately - modern but very traditional. This band has a good disc already.

One I listened to a few weeks back and gave a second listen today. On paper I didn't really think I would like it. Sure I like some djent from time to time and like progressive stuff to. But added with a lot of electronic stuff? Well... turns out I really dig this one.

Instrumental stoner metal from Germany. Production is excellent on this. Nice raw guitars, impactful drums and bass. Some nice middle eastern vibes going on this record as well.

One that's actually featured on this site. Stoner metal with some psychedelic vibes here and there. First time I heard these guys and was pleasantly surprised.

Instrumental stoner rock/desert rock from Greece. I really like these guys. "Death Trip" was already a really good record from them and this is on the same level. The lyra in "The West Side Of East" is a really cool addition to the music.

Really excellent doom metal/heavy metal album with a lot of atmosphere. Only gripe with this one is the production on the drums. Basedrum deserves to be more prominent in the mix and cymbals could use more clarity. Guitars are nice and raw. Vocals are really good. You can clearly hear their love for bands like Candlemass.

One of the better albums I've heard this year.

Really good heavy metal album from the USA.

And a really interesting post-metal album with lots of ambient elements and a bit of a jazz flavour added to it. One of my favourites so far this year.

Hi guys, I have liked metal all my life, it is my favorite genre, my dad listened to it when he was young so I started listening to it from a very young age, I am reading all the comments and the truth is that the recommendations are very good I have not had time to listen to what is new this year but luckily I entered this forum and it has helped me a lot, a hug to all, by the way which classic bands from the 90's you consider to be the best, I hope we will agree on the answers haha

Hey man, welcome, hope you will find it to be a useful place to find new stuff!

Personally, favourite bands that got big in the 90s include Amorphis, Alice In Chains, Neurosis, Sleep, Opeth, Tool, Blind Guardian, Nightwish, Dark Tranquillity, and plenty more (albeit some of those are more for their post-2000 work, particularly Amorphis and Dark Tranquillity)

First of all also a big welcome from me. This site has been (and still is) a great source to find some great albums/recommendations.

As for your question about the 90s...

I'd say Blind Guardian, Iced Earth, Dream Theater, Tool, Paradise Lost, Opeth, Bruce Dickinson's solo work, Heavenwood, In Flames, Grave Digger and some good albums by Rammstein, Symphony X were released in the 90s.

And there are definitely more, but these are the ones that quickly came to my mind.
