Have fun, Nervel. Musically, the band are stunning although some of the Egyptian ambiences are forgotten but not most of the time.

I just watched the clip for 'Sarcophagus', - which was the first song that i heard of them awhile ago - and really liked it. I didnt have any expectations for it, and the clip seemed to fit the mood/atmosphere of the music. Oh and they have a video for 'Sacrifice Unto Sebek' ... cool i'l give that a watch!

Be sure to check out their "Execration Text" video. You can find it on YouTube.com pretty easy.

Oh thanks! I'll definatly be sure to do that tomorrow ... my net isnt fast enough at home so i'll do it at college. Good to see im spending my time well

Oh god....where to start? Let's see, I'll try to list....

Annihilation of the Wicked
Sacrifice Unto Sebek
Cast Down the Heretic
The Burning Pits of the Duat
Kheftiu Asar Butchiu
Unas, Slayer of the Gods
Wind of Horus
Sarcophagus
Execretion Text
The Blessed Dead
Black Seeds of Vengeance
Masturbating the War God
Multitude of Foes
Barra Edinazzu
The Howling of the Jinn
Beneath Eternal Oceans of Sand

These are the real stand-out tracks from each album to me. I enjoy everything they've ever done, but these are my favorites.

I'll just make a top10 list (in no order):

Sacrifice Unto Sebek
Cast Down The Heretic
Smashing The Antiu
Beneath Eternal Oceans Of Sand
Kheftiu Asar Butchiu
Sarcophagus
Execration text
User-Maat-Re
Ramses Bringer Of War
Sss Haa Set Yoth

Had to leave out so many great songs... As you can see I prefer their latest work (ITDS and AOTW) but I like everything they've done. To listen to their earliest stuff I have to be in a certain mood though.

That's one of my favorite Nile parts in any of their songs. I love how Mike Breazeale, I believe it is, yells that line and then it jumps into those heavy ass guitars and those low, gutteral growls of Karl.

As for favorite songs, I can't choose really. I enjoy them all.

A lot of favourites. Some include:

Black Seeds Of Vengeance
Lashed To The Slave Stick
The Blessed Dead
Kheftiu Asar Butchiu
Sarcophogus
Winds Of Horus

....looking back on it, the last two especially. Also, the Nile instrumentals are great.

That's weird, the same thing happened to me. It took a little time to get into that song. I love it now, probably my favorite at the moment actually.

Nile were on Graspop Metal Meeting, well, I had to miss them unfortunately .. they just didn't have what it takes to keep me on the festivalground, so me and some friends went down to the camping again .. smoke some pot .. and return for a better band (it was a twenty-minute walk .. goddamnit)

I just got "Annilation of the Wicked" yesterday, and the only thing I had heard by them previously was "In the Beggining". Im looking to buy "In their Darkened Shrines", is this a good album compared to their most recent (which I have enjoyed greatly in the past 48 hours)?

Their previous material is definitely worth listening to. The Egyptian ambiances are more present than on Annihilation... (In their Darkened Shrine is probably my favourite Nile album so it's obvious I'll tell you it's a good one )

Their hometown is about an hour and a half from my town so I'm sure I'll catch them at one time or another. They're supposed to put out a new album in 2007, so there will be another tour, which I will catch.

I agree. It's my favorite Nile album. It has more variety and change than the others but they all are good.

I've heard all this band's albums, and they didn't really do it for me. It came across as an overuse of blast beats / drum fills, and the vocals had no variation, and the solos all seem to have the same feel. Granted, I loved 'Cast Down the Heretic' and that album is pretty bloody good, but overall Nile don't seem to do anything very special. Maybe I need to give them more of a listen? But after playing through their material once I hardly find any motivation to give them a second chance.
