Have fun, Nervel. Musically, the band are stunning although some of the Egyptian ambiences are forgotten but not most of the time.

As you can see I prefer their latest work (ITDS and AOTW) but I like everything they've done. To listen to their earliest stuff I have to be in a certain mood though.

26.06.2006 - 23:05 Written by Lucas on 26.06.2006 at 16:18 That's one of my favorite Nile parts in any of their songs. I love how Mike Breazeale, I believe it is, yells that line and then it jumps into those heavy ass guitars and those low, gutteral growls of Karl. As for favorite songs, I can't choose really. I enjoy them all.

Nile were on Graspop Metal Meeting, well, I had to miss them unfortunately .. they just didn't have what it takes to keep me on the festivalground, so me and some friends went down to the camping again .. smoke some pot .. and return for a better band (it was a twenty-minute walk .. goddamnit)

I just got "Annilation of the Wicked" yesterday, and the only thing I had heard by them previously was "In the Beggining". Im looking to buy "In their Darkened Shrines", is this a good album compared to their most recent (which I have enjoyed greatly in the past 48 hours)?

The Egyptian ambiances are more present than on Annihilation... (In their Darkened Shrine is probably my favourite Nile album so it's obvious I'll tell you it's a good one )

Saw them yesterday. My god, my god, my god. They started with 'The Blessed Dead' and played songs like: 'Cast Down The Heretic', 'Sarcophagus', 'Annihilation Of The Wicked' and as last one 'Black Seeds Of Vengeance'. They are hell! They were awesome, amazing, asthonishing, mindfucking, crazy, destroying, destruction.. Glory to the Egyptian Gods! They came, they saw, they trampled us all!!!

I've heard all this band's albums, and they didn't really do it for me. It came across as an overuse of blast beats / drum fills, and the vocals had no variation, and the solos all seem to have the same feel. Granted, I loved 'Cast Down the Heretic' and that album is pretty bloody good, but overall Nile don't seem to do anything very special. Maybe I need to give them more of a listen? But after playing through their material once I hardly find any motivation to give them a second chance.
