i still remeber this movie' lost in translation, it was so bored, it was just an amazing place(tokyo), nice hotel, but nothing else, i guess it was just to have famous actors and release this movie, i dont know too much 'bout sophia coppola and her movies but this one was the most wasting time and money for me, i'm not judging all her career, but this movie was the worst movie i've ever seen, and trust me there are a lot of bad movies i've watched, or i have to say there are just few good ones . . . just my opinion

Damn, I loved that movie hahah, watched it like 4 times or something. The fact that I like Scarlett Johansson helps I guess, but still that movie was great imo. Its just a really relaxing and calm movie. Something else from all that Hollywood crap. But thats just my opinion

you know what? i agree with you, i think you liked this movie most because of scarlett; that movie is so crap, even though those hollywood stars' performance was good, it wasnt enough to get my attention or at least to say it was a good movie, cause i dont think so, but everyone has its own opinion so i respect that
....but yeah, it was sooo crap...

Don´t judge things you don´t understand. "Lost in Translation" is not a masterpiece but it´ s clearly quite strong movie about human loneliness with good humour, excellent soundtrack, Bill Murray (excellent performance), nice tempo and saying it´s the worst movie is clearly an exaggeration (or you have only seen really few excellent movies in your life but I doubt it). It´s not a matter of personal opinion here - some movies really are better than others.

As for the worst movie I have seen I am not sure. Almost all Hollywood blockbusters are quite lame and one-dimensional but they still have at least some quality. My most recent disappointment was "Kingdom of Heaven" but I can´t call it the worst, just disappointment.
There´s also "Raiders of the Living Dead" and "Hood of the Living Dead" but they were so bad, it was quite funny even.
My memory fails me.

Lost In Translation is a beautiful movie and I was genuinely moved when I left the theater after seeing it...

As for bad movies.. The thing is, in cinema its not actually that bad if your movie is bad. What I mean by this is that many dreadful movies are totally fun to watch simply because they are so inane. Take the films of Ed Wood Jr. for example - they are extremely bad from almost every point of view and yet, the are still really fun to watch. The same is true for Ube Woll (more contemporary so more people are familiar with him). Alone In The Dark was one of the funniest movies I have seen due to its phenomenal stupidity.

So in fact, the worst movies are those that are neither good or bad. These mediocre films escape my memory especially quickly so I cant even list any...

I read through the previous pages and I was really surprized to see some films mentioned as being terrible when in fact they have at least some merit...

Charlies Angels - capable summer blockbuster, with all the required tittilation and action.

Blair Witch Project - ok, the premise might be stolen from Cannibal Holocaust but still, this movie was quite original for its time. Definitely not a crap film...

"Of The Dead" - actually, all Romero-penned zombie movies (Land Of The Living Dead, Dawn Of The Dead, Day Of The Dead, Land Of The Dead) are good quality and feature a very respectable amount of social commentary. Also, if what you've seen was "Shaun Of The Dead", that movie was a parody and it was supposed to be funny like that.

Phone Booth - come on, this is a great thriller with an interesting and original premise. I realize that one of the key pleasures of watching cinema is genre satisfaction but if you are not willing to be even a little open minded, you really shouldnt be watching anything in the first place...

Mission Impossible 2 - totally beautiful and operatic (hell, even poetic) action sequences. And since MI2 is clearly a total action film, what else would you expect?

Alien IV - "Sigourney Weaver as her own clone and Winona Ryder as protagonist. No comment." - ie. brutal commentary on cloning? whats wrong with that? Alien IV might be the worst film in the series but its still an ok film.

Bad Taste - total cult movie, super-funny, over the top... Seriously, this film rules and I definitely dont see it as belonging to the list of worst movies ever.

Transporter - once again, excellent action movie. If you simply dont like action movies, dont watch them.

Dawn Of The Dead - again - Romero's zombie films are full of social commentary and are shot pretty well. If you dont like the genre, dont watch it.

House Of 1000 Corpses - psychedelic remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre... whats not to like?

Cannibal! The Musical - in case you didnt know, Troma films are deliberately made to look kinda pathetic and campy. Its a chosen aesthetic and if you accept that, you'll appreciate that their movies are actually extremely successful at what they set out to be...

Ok, thats enough for now

You've Got Mail. I had to watch this on the bus on a school trip, once (when I didn't have metal to sink back into ), and I seriously could have written the script myself. Why do so many women go in for these trashy 'romantic' movies? That said, there's certainly a hell of a lot of trashy horror and action movies, as well...:p

I hated "Exorcist II", but like the others quite a bit.
The first time i watched "Lost in Translation" was on a rainy day at my house and I fell asleep. After hearing some of the controversy surrounding the movie, I watched it a second time and have to admit it is not that bad.

And a film that really annoyed me was "Crash". It received so much hype as a "racism-awareness" movie but all that it seemed to do was reinforce the negative stereotypes. Plus the ending was so stupid.

"Butterfly Effect" is very similar in the way that people hype it up as an amazing film. Many of the people who like these films have never had a philosophical thought in their lives. So when a film comes along and does the thinking for them they are kind of in awe of their newfound awareness.

Piece of shit
I have to agree with Jupitreas.
Even though I am a John Woo fan, I didn't watch MI2, not becuase it might be bad, I just think that Woo's humor in his movies do not translate well at all in his american films. Besides that, I just really prefer the older Hong Kong films. Hard Boiled was his last really over the top 80s style action film, which is what he totally rules at making. When I watch Woo, I want no barriers at all!

But, like Paul WS Anderson, responsible for making Resident Evil, Mortal Kombat, and AVP. Those films are bad, but FUNNY AS FUCK!!!! They totally reach the bottom, yet are enjoyanle becuase of that, but like pornos, I usually don't finish them, since I get exactly what I want after the first hour and really don't care what happens next. Anyway, how you can watch Charlie's Angels and not know what you are going to get? It's like buying a Manowar album due to it's cover and being dissapointed, that's retarded.

Usually movies that take themselves too seriously and the director thinking to himself that he is the next Ingar Bergman or Kubrick really quality as bad. Films like American Beauty for example are heavy handed and shallow, and just have people moving around and doing things without actual reason behind it, and it makes me realize how dated movies in the late 90s were when they take in pop culture.

But those aren't so bad, but I think they're bad becuase of that, they're just bland and in the middle, liek they take no chances to make them bad or good, which what makes or breaks a movie really IMHO. But what I really think is bad is when a sublime director actually makes a less than Sublime film. Like when Akira Kurosawa made Dreams in 1990...wow. Good thing he stated that RAN would be his last film in 1985, cos after that, he just did very personal projects, which are okay to good with little interesting parts, but great only for himself.

Also Lost City was sorta lame, pretty bland political movie....Andy Garcia is NOT Bernardo Bertolucci, trying to make violence, great human emotion and psychology come together as one big piece just really failed. But actually a good movie...for a first time director he knew what he was doing, but you just can't compare film makers, it's a personal vision thing, even if it's ripping someone else off. Movies are just really hard to put your finger on, it's the deepest form of art, they're not albums or anything. So even Hollywood blockbusters can have merit to make it a great film.

The two worst film directors in the world are without a doubt Paul anderson and Uwe Boll. Check out there directed flics:
Paul Anderson Did - Alien v.s. Predator, the mortal kombat series and the Resident evil series. Alien v.s. Predator Blew dick.

Uwe Boll is the video game lover who directed : House of the dead and Alone In the dark . Both Movies were so laughably BAD .

BUT HOUSE OF THE DEAD WAS THE WORST!!

But heres the best part: Boll and anderson are both trying to get there hands on the new halo film. lets hope for gods sake that universla studio executives grow a brain and keep these two Douchbags away from it.

Uwe Boll... heh...

Alone in the Dark was terrible. The worst part is that it wasn't so horrendous that you could make fun of it with some friends and still have a good time (which is what House of the Dead managed to do). It was just the saddest directing and scriptwriting job I have ever seen.

Bloodrayne was the one of the funniest films released this year. So fucking bad, you can't help but laugh at it.

As of last night I would like to add to my list Cannibal! The Musical. It was absolutely terrible.

"Let's Build a Snowman" redeemed a little bit of that film, I must say...

... the film still wasn't that good, though. Granted it was a low-ass-budget college film, but it probably should have stayed in the campus archives.

Some more Horrible Fucking examples of wasted film were The Grudge, The boogeyman, Cry wolf and The cave. its almost like every director is getting lazier and lazier with the horror genre. Theres no real terror or scares here. Just Loud noises popping up suddenly to scare you out of your seat or annoying plot twists that dont make sense. Horror Films are dead it seems.

* Although The hills have eyes remake was great. The same director also did High Tension. And Eli Roth's Hostel was great........ But those are the only two examples out of like the last five years.

When a Stranger Calls is the worst movie I've ever seen. I only saw it cuz my girlfriend wanted to and after the movie was over I felt dumber. The acting was horrible and the "scary" scenes were sooo fuckin lame that I laughed my ass off. There were also a ridiculous amount of cliches going on throughout, like when the main character's friend couldn't get her car to start (of course) even though it is brand new and then after it did she noticed the road was blocked so she got out to remove the branches. She then got scared, ran away, and got clothes-lined (sp?) by a tree branch. I busted out laughing at that scene.
