Went to the Iron Maiden gig last night (Sunday 10th), fucking amazing, probably the best gig ive been too... apart from Wacken. Good setlist, some really unexpected good songs played live, infact, quite similar to the Live After Death Live album, except Somewhere In Time and Seventh Son were added. The only 'modern' song was Fear Of The Dark. That made it awesome too, hearing mainly their old stuff made it better. The set was well done, it changed alot with backdrops and the giant Eddie was funny. Cant wait to see them again.

I echo Matt's sentiments, and add that there are some fucking retarded people who go to gigs. Fuckwits threw shoes on the stage during Maiden's set, and something else(I think a shirt) that knocked over a mic. Other then that, it was good. Bruce has a bunch of new costumes to change into, I was pleasantly surprised and rather impressed with Lauren Harris(though she needs to work on her headbanging skills), and the only thing that was worthwhile during Behind Crimson Eyes' performance was their drummer, who really got into it.

I found Lauren Harris rather boring to watch. She did try to get the crowd into it, but unfortunately a lot of the fans acted like arseholes to her. I really felt sorry for her. I loved how Iron Maiden changed the backdrop as the performance progressed. And the cyborg Eddie was pretty damn cool too. I loved the setlist, especially Rime of the Ancient Mariner. That was just sensational. Was great to hear Powerslave and Heaven can wait along with the rest of the fan favourites of course too. And they promised to be back real soon too which is great to hear.

We went to see the Maiden plane land today. It was so awesome, and we followed one of their vans to the hotel and eventually met Jannick haha. Check it - FUCK YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAH

HA! My internet and computer are now fixed, more or less, so I can finally rave and rant about how good Iron Maiden were and how bad Behind Crimson Eyes were! We missed Lauren Harris, but got the last few songs of Behind Crimson Eyes' set. I must say, I almost felt sorry for them, because they had literally 4 fans in the whole venue. After every song, they were booed, and while they deserved it because they sucked and looked like fuckwits, it was still a very harsh reception. Though not as bad as the one Trivium got when they opened for Maiden in Wales - they had bottles and McDonald's cups filled with piss (as in urine) thrown at them. Anyway, who gives a shit about that, MAIDEN FUCKING OWNED!!!!!111!!!11!!

Yeah, I can't help but feel sorry for Behind Crimson Eyes after hearing all the horrible reception they got. I understand that a lot of the metal fans wouldn't have liked them, but the booing and all was a bit unnecessary. Vanishing Point got a really good response from the crowd in Melbourne. There were quite a few people getting into them while others were just eagerly waiting for Iron Maiden to start. Bruce fucked up the opening lyrics to Moonchild at the second Melbourne show which was pretty funny.

Who's going to see/has seen Helloween? Saw them on Tuesday night, it was definitely one of the better gigs I've been to. Joel said afterwards that he thought it was at least as good as the Maiden gig, and I'd agree with him there, because the whole intimacy thing played a big part, the band were actually playing to US, rather than to a mass of 10,000 people like with Maiden.

29.02.2008 - 21:31 Written by Judas on 28.02.2008 at 13:33 Do you mean it was a small gig? It felt like that when i saw Edguy ages ago, its good when the bands interact with the few people there. Sad i have to miss seeing Helloween, Immortal, Dream Theater and Ozzy. Would have really liked seeing the first two alot.

Helloween were quite good, yeah! I even caught a drum stick from the Vanishing Point drummer! I'm looking forward to Immortal in a few days though. I've been pining for an extreme metal gig since the last two I've been to were Iron Maiden and Helloween! Xtreme and myself will be meeting up as usual but anyone else is welcome to join the crowd haha. @DC, Oracle, etc: Will you be seeing any cool bands in the near future?

Looking forward to Ruins sent, pretty sure they'll play alot of new songs - we've only gotten at a maximum of 2 new one for the past 6 months and I know they've pretty much finished the album. Haha, "us usual" counts for one time?

@DC: Well, it wasn't the smallest gig that I've seen, but it was intimate in that they interacted really well with specific people in the crowd, and the whole eye-contact thing was there etc. @Raiden: You got Vanishing Point's stick, I got Helloween's.

@Raiden: Unfortuanatly we wont be seeing any good bands for a while. I would have loved to see Helloween and Immoral though but Matt does uni now and he has to work as well so he cant really get alot of time off coz he is either studying or working If these gigs werent so close together then we would consider seeing these bands... I envy all you guys for seeing all these great bands

The way i see it is, metal is not really as underground here anymore, and the bands are all starting to tour Australia alot more. So chances are missing a gig or two shouldnt prove too much of an issue. Many of them will be back. I just hope in the future bands will tour not so close together so i can allocate free weekends. It was good just seeing a classic like Maiden anyway, pretty much shat on most other gigs ive seen here in Australia. I think Nightwish and Edguy were two of the better ones. I must admit though, i havent really seen alot of Extreme bands live, so Immortal would have been great.

08.03.2008 - 11:05 Written by BurbotsRevenge on 08.03.2008 at 09:17 Went to their last gig here, i found the opening band better though, cant remember their name, they were from Perth. Also saw them at Wacken 06 for a few songs. I only like maybe 3 songs, so i get bored pretty quick with them. Its a good sign though to see bands are returning here after previous tours.
