11.03.2008 - 04:41 Written by Icarus on 10.03.2008 at 17:39 It really depends what you want to study, and at which universities in Melbourne and Sydney. City-wise, I prefer Melbourne, don't know why though, just a personal thing. If you're applying at the University of Melbourne, then that's what I'd be hoping to get. University of Sydney would be my second choice, and Australian National University third, just because I'm not a fan of Canberra.

11.03.2008 - 13:13 Written by Daniel on 11.03.2008 at 12:29 They actually came to Bendigo one night and played a show with Destruktor, Cromlech and a couple of other names. I haven't seen them as supports for any other bands in Melbourne, but yeah, I've seen them that one time. Both Gospel Of The Horns and Destruktor were excellent.

17.03.2008 - 12:04 Written by Evican on 17.03.2008 at 01:25 Yeah there were signing sessions in Sydney and in Melbourne. I think they were announced together with the tour dates or shortly have that announcement of their Australian tour. I unfortunately missed the Melbourne signing because I got caught up at uni with matters beyond my control. As for Children of Bodom, I got my ticket today also. And I got my Saxon ticket yesterday. Anyone else going to Saxon?

17.03.2008 - 12:18 Written by Eternal Flames on 17.03.2008 at 12:04 Aww, that sucks. Had I known I would have tried to make it to the Sydney one. It was probably on a weekday though, so I wouldn't have been able to go anyway. This time shall be so much better than last time they were here. The Enmore Theatre is such a better venue and has really great sound. Due to where I'll be standing and the positioning of the speakers, all I will be able to hear will be Henkka and Jaska.. Which is fine by me. At Nightwish all we could really hear were Jukka and Marco as we were smack bang in the middle at the very front and most of the speakers are on each side of the stage. Nah, not big on Power Metal. LORD are supporting them though. Grrr at LORD stealing the Nightwish support away from Antonamasia.

17.03.2008 - 16:32 Written by Evican on 17.03.2008 at 12:18 Lol. Not only do "Antonomasia" not have a full-length release or a solid fanbase, but LORD are one of Australia's finest bands. No sane person would say that LORD "stole" the support, and fewer still should complain about this . Colombian dude - ANU is regarded as Australia's top university, but Canberra's a bit boring. I second Judas' Melbourne recommendation, awesome city whose uni is still quite esteemed. Regarding the Children of Bodom tour - $80? Garn get fucked.

18.03.2008 - 00:06 Written by Hyvaarin on 17.03.2008 at 16:32 That would be "Antonamasia". They have a solid fan base, I should know.. I see the same faces at every gig. LORD (well Dungeon, but close enough) got it last time. I would have liked to have seen a different band. Antonamasia also have the energy in their live performance that matches the level of energy that Nightwish posess. LORD does not, simply because their music doesn't contain enough energy. That has always been on of my biggest pet hates about them. Haha, you would if it was your boyfriend (or girlfriend rather) that was in the band and know how much effort they put it and how much they deserved it. It's because they are playing bigger venues, so it's logical that the ticket prices will be more.

It's all about the pulling power of the name. Antonamasia might be the best band in the world, but until they're really out there they're going to keep being shoved to the side in favour of the bigger crowd pleasers. Give it a while, then we'll all be pissy because Antonamasia are getting every support slot. (I have no idea about the band, never having listened to their music) In other news, I wish channel ten would fucking stick to a schedule. If you don't have all the episodes of a season yet due to the aftermath of the Writer's Strike in America, don't bloody play episodes only to have to wait until you get the rest in a few months!

19.03.2008 - 06:13 Written by Daniel on 19.03.2008 at 02:44 I've seen them numerous times also, but their live performance isn't consuming enough for me and they don't have the energy that they should. Andy can't carry the band alone when it comes to their stage prescence and performance. I'm not saying that they aren't good, they just aren't involved enough when it comes to live performance. I saw Dark Tranquillity when they were out here last.. and they were great live, except they were as stiff as hell and weren't energetic at all. It annoys me when bands don't get into the music that they play and give it their all. I find it hard not to if it's something you've written and composed yourself. The enthusiasm should come naturally. I like to watch and hear band when I go to shows, if I wanted to hear and not watch, I'd just listen to the CD.

19.03.2008 - 17:50 Written by Evican on 18.03.2008 at 00:06 Lol, and there it is. Look, I'm not saying that Anoknrkltn don't work hard, but I know that LORD work extremely hard, as do MANY other Australian bands. To suggest that they should have gotten the slot for this reason is silly. And for the record, I find every member of LORD (save perhaps the hired gun guitarist) very entertaining on stage. And I find the music of Anotmklfsd irritating beyond belief, for what that's worth.

20.03.2008 - 02:17 Written by Hyvaarin on 19.03.2008 at 17:50 That my boyfriend is in the band wasn't the reason, it was the reason that I gave for justifying why it still annoys me. I believe that headlining bands should be supported by bands of the same genre or that at least have something in common, because let's face it.. the fans are there to see a certain band who play a certain genre of metal, so therefore it's logical that a like-band should support. LORD aren't closely related to Nightwish enough for me. Nyeh, not much. I'm not bias about my feelings towards them as I supported them long before I was going out with my boyfriend.

LORD love playing down here in Hobart... wish I could say the same when I see them. Was planning to head to Melb again for the Portal / Gospel Of The Horns / Urgrund gig, but have to cancel that. Need to see GOTH and Portal live though, couple of my favourite bands

LORD are pretty boring to most Sydney people because they get almost every support gig in Sydney. They dont have a variety of songs, and play the same ones live almost every time. Dont get me wrong, they are a good band, but seeing them 10 times (inc Dungeon) is enough, and id rather see other bands opening. They lost a bit of class too when Stu left (hence forming LORD from Dungeon). Then again, alot of you havent seen them that much so they probably are desirable for you. So how were the Immortal and Ozzy gigs in Sydney? Anyone go?

I heard from a friend that someone threw up in the moshpit at Immortal in Melbourne But yes, I can understand that for most Sydney metal fans, seeing Lord over and over again would get a bit boring. I've missed them every time they've been to Melbourne, but will be seeing them with Saxon. I guess it's quite similar with Psycroptic though. Despite that I love the band, seeing them open up for pretty much every death metal band gets a bit repetitive

29.03.2008 - 08:10 Written by Eternal Flames on 29.03.2008 at 06:21 Haha, yeah, happened pretty much right in front of Raiden and I. Was quite distgusting, but atleast it freed up alot of room in the pit, haha. And yes with Psycroptic. The same set for over a year and a half gets very repetitive. ALTHOUGH!! They have a new album out in a few months, so we'll be getting (hopefully) more tunes into the live sets. Didn't get anything new last weekend though and the 2 shows they played. Anyone picked up the new Ruins album?

Yeah the prick's spew splashed on to my boot! So I made him eat my boot, while it was kicking him in the head. Not really, but it was annoying, lol. There was a couple of metres round circle in the pit like Jax said haha. Then a couple of people thought they'd occupy the gap and start standing in the spew That guy got kicked out at least though. I've only really seen all these support bands once, so it's not a problem for me I've seen Terrorust three times now, but for a while I kept missing the gigs that bands like Psycroptic were supporting at.

Sounds like it was a good night. I managed to see Leicohtica and Nevetherym on their national tour the other night. Both bands were very impressive. I highly recommend everyone go see them. As for Psycroptic, just before they released Symbols of Failure and just after the release of it they did heaps of gigs, supporting international acts as well as doing their own national tour for SoF. It'll be great once they get the new album out so the setlist becomes a bit more varied.

Immortal were awesome. They really know how to put on a show. As for Ozzy... Well I can say that I'm glad that I didn't pay for the ticket. He was so bad it was almost good. EDIT: Any female fronted metal fans should come out and see Antonamasia when they are down in Melbourne on the 25th April. They are playing at The Corner Hotel as part of a Faultline Records showcase. I'll be heading down too, so come and say hello.

W.A.S.P. were fucking awesome last night, if you have the chance to see them in coming days, totally take it. Admittedly they're playing the entire 'The Crimson Idol' album and only a few classics, but even so, they put on a damn good show. They were amazingly tight last night as well, in sync with the videos that they were showing in the background and everything.
