Four litres....that makes either two large presidents or eight small presidents....where are you going to hide that? Besides....you know that there are some "cupboards" standing in front of the door who will probably place their hands on you....especially if they notice something big sticking out through your....shirt...

Well I skipped the Metsatöll&Korpiklaani gig as I got back from Pärnu too late. Though wasn't too keen on that gig anyhow. Instead I went to see Smõuk (awesome!!!) at Rockstar's.

Also missed the Tribuutfest @ RC the next day cause my friends bailed Instead I turned it into a quiet night of modest alcohol consumption. Oh well.

I wouldn't call such a bet without being sure. That would have been easy 1000eek for me, because im total... don't know the english word... "karsklane".
Anyway, Paljassaare was great, the bands (unknown to me before PRF) were better than I expected.

So how did you like Hard Rock L. who went there? Which bands did you like most.

I feel it was good. My favourites there were Kosmikud, Burden of Grief, Enslaved, Cathedral, Smõuk, Vader. Unfortunately didn't see Galadriel, Preternatural and Obtest because before these there were some bands I wasn't really interested in so I drank too much(actually not very much but still it affected me quite strongly) and fell asleep for a few hours. If I had to pick a favourite artist, it would be Cathedral. It was great that the weather was dark at that time which added to the atmosphere, also the songs were catchy in their own way and some were great and depressive, besides I liked how vocalist and bassist performed.

I bet the weather was nice....last year there was a heatwave of 30C there and it wasn't very pleasant...especially when you woke up at sunrise because the tent turned from fridge into a microwave oven in split seconds as the first sunrays touched it.....

I really liked this years HRLaager, especially the first day and Cathedral. The band was so massive and the songs from their last album were just great. Actually during the time Cathedral was playing, I was waiting a certain song from them - "Hopkins (Witchfinder General)" - and lucky me, the song ended the first day. Smõuk was also great - I had been waiting for several months to see them live.

P.S. Thanks to HRL, I now have a signed Cathedral - Hopkins EP by both, Lee Dorian and Leo Smee.

First day it was raining quite a lot. I didn't like it very much(although usually I like rain), because it created a lot of mud and made all the grass wet etc, but I definately prefered it to scorching sunlight. Second day was quite warm but not too hot and in the evening the weather was good so all in all the weather was quite good. Only downside was that it was cold in the tent on first night.

Cathedral was great yes and the performers gave a lot of energy to the audience and although it was the last band and I should have been more tired than during other bands, I felt no tireness.

Does anyone know when's the next time Smõuk will perform somewhere?

Smõuk are awesome! Keep you're eye on the HRC forums, any gig info is likely to pop up there.

As for me and HRL - I couldn't make it there. Which is a shame cause I'm sure I would've enjoyed it. A lot. :-\

I read that this year the telk area was guarded and surrounded with a fence...thing was that if you wished to set your tent up, you had to obtain a ticket and a wristband in order to access the tent area....well...I think t'was because of reasons of safety...
Another thing I heard about was sauna....they set up one there.....so you could go there and spring into cold stream afterwards....

I wasn't there....but this is what I read....

Yes, HRL was nice. A lot of good bands that were playing this year. I'm glad that I didn't drink at all and managed to see most of the bands. The reason I went there, was Enslaved. In my opinion Enslaved isn't very good live, they're more like a band you listen from a Cd. Luckily managed to see Enslaved's setlist paper, one dude from a neighbour tent grabbed it from between fence and the stage.
Of course, there were other very good bands. I missed Kosmikud on the first day, because my brother forgot his ticket at home, so we had to come with the next bus and hitchhike to Vana-Vigala. Must Missa turned the crowd wild. Best moshpit of HRL was certainly with Must Missa. Loits was good as usual, songs from the new album are really good. The last performer on first day, Cathedral, really surprised me. Stoner rock/metal or whatever they are playing, is fun. They did a song from they're first album, it was a doom metal song. It was really different from they're other songs in setlist. The singer and bassist were interesting. Vocalist danced on the stage and bassist made strange sounds with his instrument, he's good! Have to listen more of Cathedral. Anyone knows to suggest a good Cathedral album(s) to start with?
Second day started with an aching neck. I watched most of the bands, while sitting in the shadows. Didn't go to swim, it would have been useful.. Smõuk that started, was interesting, but not my favourite one. It still started the day nicely. Smashed Nail Sister was boring, I suggest not listen to it, there is more interesting stuff out there. Missed Spitblood and Prenatural. Wanted to see Obtest. They gave an interesting show. Then came another surprise from this year's HRL - Galadriel. Damn good band. They had "invisible" drummer, that didn't disturb. They gave a powerful performance.
Then came Brides In Bloom. A good local rock band from Tallinn. Made a pause and enjoyed good playing by them. They're talented.
After that came Tharaphita, played new songs and "Raev", which they hadn't played for a long time. Amoral was again a good unknown band. Lead guitarist played manic guitar solos.
And after that came headliners of the day Vader and Soilwork. Forgotten Sunrise was between them. They were different from other bands. No other band was playing electronic music at HRL. They did very well, for some metalheads it's too different, but it sure did fit in the atmosphere. And the band has metal roots. Ok, back to headliners. Vader gave hell of a show. I Was in front of the stage, enjoying band at the maximum level I could. Vader played a lot of old songs and some songs from Impressions In Blood. Maybe the best performer after Must Missa this year. At first didn't want to watch Soilwork, not really my cup of tea. But...eventually I did and have to say that they are good live. The only song I knew was the first one - Stabbing The Drama. Older songs were a bit better.
