I picked what I thought would be a fitting title for me.

Looks like everything kinda got going on it's own once Nervel put the idea out there which is great. I wasn't sure how long it was going to take for everything to get started up but since Herz put the banner in his sig three more people have which is great.

Smurf Metal

Guys, as the leader of the HamPsteR MeTaL club, I must express my happiness with your new name. It made me laugh so much. Well done. I salute you all!

Considering it is decided that we shall be called "Smurf Metal", I decided to proudly display the Smurf Metal banner in my signature. I also gave myself the title of Bobby Smurf Ellsworth. Now if only Nervel could change the name of the thread as well.

@Hemlock: Leader? I think we both came up with it together or something in an MSN convo...the realms of hampster metal are governed by the both of us

Smurf metal? Interesting concept and I like the banner...nice concept but I must interject here...I really hope there doesn't wind up being a banner for alternative metal and gothic and all of that too...is nothing sacred and pure anymore in this world?

Shit...I'm so beside myself about this...I mean, I don't wanna be a whineass about how you're taking our idea and everything because I realize that it's out of respect and all of that shit...I really didn't forsee the day that MSers would have banners in their signatures representing the sub-genre of music they listen to with some cryptic title, etc...

@Herzebeth: Well...I suppose hamster metal has no leaders either...just a couple of founders...you all came up with the idea of smurf metal together though eh...there's gonna be more smurf metallers then hampster metallers obviously sporting a banner in their sig...do you think other MSers of other general sub-genres are going to start coming together and wanting to make a banner too?

Same here....this Smurf Metal thing has gotten out of hand I think.

I don't think so. I just hope we don't have too many members.

I personally know that I was getting tired of seeing hampster metal banners everywhere...the truth is that you'll be irritated by seeing it so often (it's so bright to begin with and takes you're eyes away from the black dank overall atmopshere of MS) but in time you'll get used to seeing it around everywhere and it'll just become second nature in time...as long as there are no further copycat conceptions, I could care less myself...

I don't think people will think twice about the banners I didn't even know what hampster metal was until I stumbled upon this thread. As for the other genres of metal having groups I doubt it will happen because they don't really have enough fans on metalstorm it's mostly extreme, prog, and power aside from that I don't think there is enough fans of the seperate genres to get something like this together.

I think in order to make sure this group doesn't get out of hand we just have a few minor requirements or rules or whatever for people to join.

Sorry for doing it on my own, but it works now

I don't use imageshack so I don't really know how it works but basically, the URL tag you used was associated to the right pic, but the IMG tag was directing to the resized pic. I don't think the URL was needed so I removed it and associated the IMG tag to the full size banner.


Now, let me remind those who may find it boring to browse the Extreme forums and see tons of Smurf banners that look strictly similar that they can disable the display of all signatures in the settings menu on top of the site

I think this will bore us in a while..but what's the problem, if we are having fun right now then let's keep on doing stupid things right? when we get tired of this then we'll talk about erasing banners or whatever..

what would the fight even be about? like I don't think either group is really serious enough to have argue about anything and I'm sure most of the members of each group respect the opposite genre. It's not like its going to turn into a huge rivalary over which has more memembers or something.
