Black Metal vs Death Metal

I have stated several times that I do not hate all black metal, thus your point is untrue. If you are a BM elitist, you have issues, and unfortunatly coming to a forum is all you fuckers ever do...besides dress up in halloween paint and screech about satan over minor chords

Besides, Black Metal is not nearly as emotional as Doom Metal...the slowness is all calculated to put forth the most emotion possible.

I'm a fan of Melodic Death and Black Metal, and Symphonic Black Metal. I also like technical and brutal death metal.

Is it just me or am I the only one who notices most of the arguments against BM in this thread are based off of the stereotyped fan base rather than the music itself?

Well, for one, there are really some Black Metal-loving pricks out there. I've been on this forum for a while, and have also visited various others such as Metal-Archives and Black Metal UK and there are indeed some absolute pricks. So what? Does that really matter? As if there aren't any shitheads in the jazzscene, or the Death Metal scene.

Then we come to some incorrect prejudices. I find it hard to believe that you actually think they are correct. Do I really need to tell you that 'black metal = satan worshipping' is nothing but a stupid prejudice? As if Death Metal bands only sing about anal molestation.

About the music videos: I haven't seen many but those I have seen are indeed pretty stupid/hilarious. Truth is, it is sometimes very hard to seperate the real nekrokvnt-tr00 satan worzhippers from those that simply think it fits with the music, or think it is funny.

And again, not all Black Metal bands play only 4 notes per song. Since the birth of black metal there have been Darkthrone clones, yes, and they will possibly exist forever, but does that really matter? Aside those bands there are also a LOT of bands that take Black Metal and do something new with it.

I didn't mention any exceptions cause I doubt you would be interested in those. You have your own taste, different from mine. Who really cares. But please, don't go around saying all Black Metal is satan-4-random-note music.

So what sucks exactly? Just the lyrics about satanworship? Or the music of those bands as well. If you mean that purely the lyrics suck, then I agree, most of them are very lame. as elitist as it might sound, you either know a lot about black metal or you either don't know shit. that is why almost everyone who knows 'something' about this genre often has misconceptions. be it about the lyrics, the music, the fans.. etcetera. black metal is imho the most diverse genre of metal. but this can not be realized by listening to just a couple of bands.

@Damnated, I think by "symphonic ding dongs" he ment keyboards. By the way i'm noticing that some people say they hate keyboards, why!? They're awsome, especilly in Black Metal because they are used to make the songs sound ominous and that's the best part of Black Metal IMO.

I chose Death Metal simply because I listen to it more, and it's much more aggressive then Black Metal, which i like. Death Metal's also hard to hate, because it has so many subgenres. For example, you can hate the newer Death Metal, but you can love the old school Death Metal, you can dislike Brutal Death Metal, but you can be in love with Melodic Death Metal and so on. Death Metal's diversity and subgenres is probably the reason why it's owning Black Metal in this poll.
