21.11.2011 - 01:10 Written by [user id=4365] on 21.11.2011 at 01:06 Meh, even though pretty much every serious gamer I've ever encountered both online and off says Morrowind >> Oblivion, I still preferred Oblivion because Morrowind was (to me) just tedious as hell, with seriously terrible combat. So I'm going to assume the same goes for Skyrim as well, which just makes me all that more pissed I can't run it.

Account deleted Written by Slayer666 on 21.11.2011 at 01:10 It's probably a case of Morrowind being kind of a first of that massive explorable world, obviously when it came to Oblivion it'd be done before, and by that point things seemed a bit... smaller? I dunno, maybe it's because the retarded leveling system, poor thieving and level-oriented item placement, and the fact you could fast travel so the world seemed smaller (also no epic cities like Vivec in Oblivion). Yeah the combat was poor but I don't think it was improved much in Oblivion. Basically Morrowind felt like a world whereas Oblivion felt like a land.

21.11.2011 - 01:21 Written by [user id=4365] on 21.11.2011 at 01:10 Oh...I could've sworn they did a PS2 release but I guess not. I never actually played Morrowind, I'm very new and already addicted to The Elder Scrolls series. I got Oblivion at the beginning of October because I was bored and looking for something with a little more substance than an FPS so I got it on a recommendation from a friend of mine who apparently disappeared from reality for about 6 months back when Morrowind came out. There's a part of me that is sad I didn't get into TES until so late but then there's that part of me that only had to wait a month for Skyrim's release that is so happy I didn't have to wait 5 years like the rest of you guys soooo...

Account deleted Written by psykometal on 21.11.2011 at 01:21 Well you could always go back and play Morrowind when you're done with Skyrim. I'm probably going to, will also look to see what mods there are. Will probably look a bit basic to you after playing Skyrim but it feels like a much bigger world with more freedom and less being told what you can and can't do. You can go find legendary weapons and armours and whatnots straight away, don't have to worry about level. It's quite charming visually (no giant mushrooms and massive floating jellyfish in Slyrim!).

21.11.2011 - 01:29 Written by [user id=4365] on 21.11.2011 at 00:55 Oh thank god. I was worried that would be one of those missions like in Oblivion that if you fucked up and couldn't remember where to go to find something that I would be perpetually stuck with that quest and those 2 amulets stuck in my inventory. As it is I'm already stuck with Visit the Shrine of Azura and Find the Red Eagle Sword quests stuck in my quest list because I stumbled onto those quests inadvertantly and completed them and then I found the books later on that give you the quests so now I can't get those quests out of my list and it's bugging me.

Just started playing. Lvl 10 Wood Elf Sneak and Archery. The games is good and I like the fact you can forge, enchant and use alchemy. I don't like the buggy a.i and the whole "modern meets norse" menu. It seems leveling up is faster then Oblivion. I gotta say. I witness my first mammoth VS dragon fight. Epic! The sidequest seems less "go fetch!" then Oblivion as well wich is a good thing and the fact that you sometimes have to actually read the books you pick up do complete quests is another plus for me. Not the kinda game to play with a baby and gf to take care of but Fast travel helps a lot.

23.11.2011 - 04:31 Written by Sophist on 23.11.2011 at 02:06 Idk. Maybe the game is just recycling them since I keep either selling them or ignoring them. It's probably designed to recycle them to make sure players never fully lose the opportunity to get married.

Encountered the most annoying dragon fight the other day. It was druing the first proper thieves guild quest, goldenglow manor or whatever its called. Anyway, I broke into the safe and everything fine, got to the beehives without being detected when out of nowhere a fucking dragon came down, alerted everyone to my presence and set all the beehives on fire. Nocturnal really wasnt with me then.

23.11.2011 - 16:34 Written by whatsacow on 23.11.2011 at 16:17 Well the director of the game did say that the dragon's were going to appear at random for the most part, lol. Yea I had 3 dragons appear all at once on my going through a swamp right near a giant camp so imagine the initial fear of having to fend off 3 dragons and a giant simultaneously. Go back a page or 2 in the thread if you want to read my post about just exactly how that fight went down and how I managed to survive it... On another note though, does anyone know if mods for PS3 have been done and where would be a good place on the interwebs to look for PS3 mods? My gaming is being bogged down like a mofo (I'm assuming) because of the draw distance and all the "dynamic elements"/fluff (i.e. falling leaves, blowing wind, grass and trees moving with the wind; all that fluff that is not pertinent for proper game play and so I am looking for a way to turn that crap off or dial down the effects of it or something until (hopefully) some kind of patch is released that makes those elements function better without hindering game play. Anyone else running into these performance issues? PS: PC gamers I don't expect you guys are having much of this trouble so please don't even begin to lay into me with the "PC gaming is better than console gaming for this reason" argument. I'm looking for solutions not a discussion about why your system is better than mine.

I am glad to see though that they are already aware of it and that they already have plans to rectify the issue asap. It's a brand new game with a brand new engine so I wasn't expecting perfection right out of the gate, lol.

27.11.2011 - 15:07 Written by [user id=4365] on 21.11.2011 at 01:17 Definitely agree there, but for me Morrowind, while being vast, felt very... empty I guess, in comparison with Oblivion. Oblivion I felt was jam-packed, mind you I also felt there was a lack of variation, something Skyrim makes up for. Also is it just me or is there far less spells in this one? (not that much a spell user except for the Illusion and Restoration schools).

There's less of everything in Skyrim. You find/steal the same stuff over and over. Morrowind did feel somewhat empty at times I'll admit, but I think I liked that. Oblivion and Skyrim have a somewhat "set-up" feel to it whereas Morrowind had a more organic shape to it, less direction, more irrelevant detailing and big cities part of the landscape rather than separately loaded areas. Oblivion is definitely the weaker of the three anyway. Probably.

28.11.2011 - 18:45 Written by R'Vannith on 27.11.2011 at 15:07 I noticed a lot less spells too. But there are a kazillion different potions. It takes me half an hour to find the one I want half the time. And oblivion isnt as great as morrowind, but the edition of fast travel made it easier to actually have a life at least.

I'm getting bored of Skyrim, maybe because I was just exploring, doing dungeons and killing dragons and I did just a few "main" quests.

I got bored of Skyrim about a week ago. Went back to Mass Effect. I don't know how people can clock 100+ hours on it as you're just doing the same things over and over.
