Well, instead of limiting our football talk to just the American Metalstormers thread, I decided to just make a topic about it so that everyone can be included.

My favorite football team is the Seahawks and my favorite player is either Lofa Tatupu or Ken Hamlin. My team got bitch slapped by the Bears recently, but we did suffer from significant injuries.

Anyways, who's your favorite team and player?

Who do you guys see going to the Superbowl this year? It's kinda hard to predict because if a key player gets an injury, the team is basically screwed. I think the Colts have a good chance of finally making it, and will either play the Seahawks or the Bears. I doubt that the Steelers will repeat this year because they haven't looked all that great. Well, I can only hope.

I think Kansas City fucked up their playoff opportunity by losing to the Browns.

I don't think I've been more pissed off about football then I am right now. We had the fucking game.....we had it. Then we did what we always do.....shoot ourselves in the fucking foot. Delhomme throws 2 fourth quarter interceptions, which makes me feel like an idiot for defending him. This is the 5th game this seasonw we've given away in the 4th quarter. I'm about to fucking give up on this team.

@pyro I'd agree with you...the Jets and the Bengals are playing very well right now, and I don't see them losing. KC doesn't deserve a wild-card if they lose to the Browns.

@Dream I heard an interesting stat. on ESPN this morning...Carolina is the second worst team with fourth quarter touchdowns scored against them. Currently, they have 100 4th quarter points against, and the Colts are leading with 104 points against. The team in 3rd had only about 70 points against. Good coaching should EASILY fix this problem, and I don't see why it hasn't been addressed. I don't know anything about your coach though...It's good you defend Delhomme, but now the reality is setting in. It's hard to be realistic with issues pertaining to your team. I'm the same way...except for Aaron Brooks and Haslett. On the bright side of things...you can win the next three games. The Giants and the steelers are both playing like garbage, and you play them IN Carolina. You can also beat Atlanta away, provided you don't give up the game in the 4th quarter. As for the Saints game, and I say this with all neutrality...you are playing them in the Superdome on New Years Eve. The energy will be absolutely insane and it will be near impossible for any opposing offense to hear anything. No team that has ever existed could have beat New Orleans in their first game back at the dome, and no team will beat them on New Year's. The only factor I'm not including is...that they ARE the Saints, so anything is possible isn't it? I'm rambling...the bottom line is you MUST win the next three games and hope for a Philly loss or two, which is highly possible.

It seems as if Julius Peppers hasn't done shit in like 4 weeks or so. I remember it was either last week or the week before where he had zero tackles for the entire game. He hasn't had a sack in the last three games, I believe, and he was getting them weekly beforehand. Is he hurt?

He didn't play in their game against the Rams, and since then hasn't done too much. He isn't on any injury lists but there is probably a reason why he didn't play against St. Louis. Interesting point though...

Ah, finally...tomorrow is game day and today is you pick em' day. Again, I'm going to plead guilty and say I thought Pittsburgh would lose, because well they are quite shitty. That really makes KC look bad for losing to the Browns doesn't it? Ok...so starting with 0-1 for this week, here we go:

I'm picking the Vikings over the Lions because I don't think Detroit will win another game.

I'm picking the Ravens over Kansas City because they have an excellent Defense, and the world seems to have forgotten that Defense is more important. KC also lost to the Browns, who lost to the Steelers. That's terrible.

I'm picking the Patriots over the Dolphins because I think they are the better team. This should be a fun game to watch, and the Dolphins will give them a scare. Look out for the Fins in 07'.

I'm picking the Falcons over the Bucs because the Bucs are agruably the worst team in the NFL. Vick needs to give the ball to their Tight End and the whole team needs be more consistant.

I'm picking the Eagles over the Redskins because they played well last week, and I'm more confident that this QB will pull out a couple more wins this year.

I'm picking Carolina over the Giants because I think the Giants are grossly overrated and Eli Manning is a low-tier QB. Carolina can only lose if they beat themselves.

I'm picking the Colts to win over the Jags because they are awesome. They lose two games (one with a freak field goal before OT) and all of the sudden people think they're fighting for a wild card. It's still their year IMO. I do like the new Jags QB...this should be another game worth taking a look at.

I'm picking Tennessee over the Texans because Young is playing better each week, and because...it's the Texans.

You all know why I'm picking the Bengals over the Raiders.

You all know why I'm picking the Seahawks over the Cardinals. Do not underestimate Leinhart though.

I'm picking SF over GB because SF is coming off a tough loss at the Superdome, and needs to try to win out. If Gore has over 100 yards and smith doesn't throw any INT'S they should win easy.

I'm picking San Diego over Denver because they are hot right now. LT is awesome, and their defense should be able to stop a QB-less Denver Offense.

I'm picking the Jets over Buffalo because I think the Jets are tough as hell. Every game I have watched them play this year, all I saw were badasses. Not an incredible amount of Talent, but this team is takin' it back to the old school when people weren't pussies.

Ah, Saints at Cowboys. I cannot bet against my own team. I cannot bet against my own team. I cannot bet against my own team. This should be a good game, unless the Saints turn the ball over and the Cowboys pass all over our weak Safety and CB. Mckenzie needs to make plays on Defense and get a pick or two. Romo could very well have a "Rookie" game, and the Saints will score when they get the ball. DALLAS IS NOT THE HOTTEST TEAM IN THE NFC. The Bears are. I don't give a shit about Grossman...they're 10-2. THEY'RE 10-2! So shut the fuck up about the Cowboys...even if they beat the Saints, the Bears are the best team, and will probably go to the super bowl. DEFENSE. DEFENSE. DEFENSE. oh...and Special Teams.

Look for a low scoring monday night game, controlled almost entirely by Chicago.

I'm thinking the Chargers are going to go to the Super Bowl. Those guys know how to move the damn football.

-Fucking Saints baby!
-Colts and Pats lost? You think these guys are digging holes for themselves?
-And finally, hope everyone is ready for the Bears to tie for the best record in the NFL tomorrow. I'm going to predict that Grossman is going to put on a decent performance. The man has to know that his job security is becoming less and less certain...

I heard that Griese is starting tomorrow...

I'm blaming the Seahawk's loss on injuries. Hasselbeck was playing with a broken finger, and we had an offensive lineman who has been injured for basically the whole year, and he didn't practice at all, but he still managed to start somehow.

Griese isn't starting tonight. He will be on deck ready to go out. He was taking more and more snaps in practice....though it may only have been motivation for Grossman to take the dick out of his ass. We will see what happens though.

lol I guess I was wrong. Some analyst said he was most likely starting, but he probably said that because of Griese getting more snaps in practice.

Looks like you guys won again. Who's the better returner....Devin Hester or Dante Hall?

I wish Hester's first name was Chester. Then it would rhyme and be really cool.

Edit: Sylvester is also a suitable first name for him.

Fuck Thursday Night Football. I'm doing something out of the ordinary at work today and I'm missing the Seahawks game. Oh well, at least I will be able to watch the CBS Sportsline ticker. The weather is really band right now in Seattle and it's affecting the game.

and what the hell is with the Saturday Night Football game? Are we eventually going to have NFL games every day?

I'm bored at work yet again so I'll give my predictions. yay.

Cowboys vs Falcons- Well, the Falcons looked pretty horrible last week and Vick is a fucking fag so I'm predicting a Cowboys' win. Tony Romo has been playing very well and I'm sure he will continue to do so. Hell, I would play great also if Jessica Simpson was my motivation!

Browns vs Ravens- The Ravens look to avenge their loss to this horrible team, and I think they'll accomplish it.

Lions vs Packers- The Packers are really unreliable and I see potential with the Lions, so I'm going to say that the Lions will upset the Packers. I'm sure it will be a very sloppy game.

Texans vs Patriots- gee, I wonder...

Jaguars vs Titans- fuck I dunno about this one. The Titans have looked pretty good I guess, but Vince Young still sucks and he's pretty unreliable. I think the Jags will win with their defense and their running game.

Dolphins vs Bills- I like the Bills for some reason, but that doesn't stop me from thinking that they suck. The Dolphins should win this one and be sure to look forward to Jason Taylor getting some more sacks....maybe the same with the Bills' Schobel...

Jets vs Vikings- I don't like the Vikings at all nor do I care much for the Jets. The Jets seem to have a better passing game than the Vikings, while the Vikings seem to have a better running game than the Jets, but Taylor seems to be fairly inconsistant. I think that the Vikings will win, unfortunately, cuz if I'm thinking correctly, they have a better defense and a better running game.

Steelers vs Panthers- fuck the Steelers....

Bears vs Bucs- Even though Grossman sucks, I think the Bears will win through their D.

Redskins vs Saints- The Redskins season was over weeks ago. The Saints are just too good of a team to lose to a team with battered key players.

Broncos vs Cards- I'm guessing that the Bronco's D will shut down Leinart and will be the key towards their win.

Eagles vs Giants- hmmm...this game could really go any way. The Eagles have their second string QB playing, while the Giants are on the verge of stabbing each other. Shit, I really don't know...I'll say that the Eagles will win cuz of their team chemistry I guess.

Rams vs Raiders- Well, the Gayders really suck, while the Rams are underachieving this year. The Rams should win this one.

Chiefs vs Chargers- The Chiefs are out of the playoff race with their last 2 losses, while the Chargers don't really have anything to prove anymore with their clinched playoff spot. I still think that the Chargers will win though because Tomlinson is a fucking robot.

Bengals vs Colts- The Bengals have been red hot the last few weeks and the Colts' defense has really sucked. I think that the Colts should have amended some of their problems and I think they'll win. I won't be surprised if the Bengals win, though.

So now the Bear's defense and kicking unit suck nuts, while the offense is looking solid. I don't know what the fuck is going on anymore. My team did manage to get home field advantage in the playoffs with this last win and the Saints defeat.

And Pyro, I agree 100 percent about all the new time slots for NFL games. That shit is getting really out of hand.

The Seahawks lost 3 starters today, all on defense. Also, our starting cornerback got injured a couple of days ago as well, and we were already thin on DB's, so it's really not looking good for us.

That fucking sucks. Looks like two other Broncos were lucky they didn't get killed as well.

As for Super Bowl predictions, well, I can't really decide. Everyone thinks the Chargers will make it, and I guess I can't argue with that. The Colts definitely won't be able to stop LaDanian and I don't see the Patriots as that big of a threat, but I won't rule them out. I have no clue about the NFC though.
