This is probably inappropriate for a non-discussion thread like this, but I recently found out something pretty neat and this might be the place to share it, as opposed to a new topic just for this.

It took me exactly 24 years to figure out that I've got two birthdays. One is in September and the other is in August.

Let me explain. It depends on where I'm located at. I was born approximately at 2:30 AM on September 1st in the time zone I'm currently in. If I ever moved to the western part of the globe I would get enough hours added into my age to make my birthday shift from September 1st to August 31st. I've lived here in Euroland for the entirety of my life so it hasn't ever been an issue so far, but I would have to keep this in mind in case I ever spent one of my birthdays on either American continent.

Many people actually have two birthdays whether they know it or not. If you know your time of birth was very close to midnight, chances are you are one of these people. If it's at a little sooner than midnight, you would have another birthday in a time zone further in the eastern hemisphere (how much further depends on how close your time of birth was to the midnight hour). In my case it's the vice versa. For me it's not only that, but it conveniently happens to be not just any midnight. It's the one that turned August to September in 1987.

This information hasn't changed my life, but it's something I'm going to bring up into conversation the next time somebody wants to know when my birthday is. Especially if they ask me that while I'm on American soil.
