Equilibrium - Equinox

Bloodwood (Single) sound terrific. I hope the rest of the album has that feel - aggressive but the the folk vibe.

Sad to see the band that made Turis Fratyr and Sagas trying to sound like Amaranthe.

Had some hopes from the singles but even they don't work on the LP. Rock bottom songwriting. Horrible production that makes ears bleed on top of that. Avoid.

Whats happen whit this band where they are going, what genre is it, a bit vanabie industrial weird, I dont like this band anymore after Rekreatur and also Armageddon

After many years and many changes they've finally presented a new album. I listened to it out of morbid curiosity because I wanted to see what the end result that Rene has been building towards would be.

Honestly it's not that bad, it's just not very interesting. I tried to be objective despite my previous misgivings about their changes in direction and there was nothing that I found super offensive in here. This album is nowhere near as bad or as big of a mess as Renegades was. There are lots of good melodies and they took a bigger step back towards folk metal territory than I thought they would because the folk elements are wall to wall in here. Feels a bit forced but maybe that's just me. While the songs all do have some very good flashy parts none of the songs are really captivating or interesting for their entire runtime. I feel like all the folk touches and bombast are crammed in there not to actually accentuate anything but instead to try to cover up that there isn't much substance under it all. The formula is terribly obvious and simplified with almost no surprises. All the songs being in English feels wrong since even Renegades had one German song. Their new singer doesn't necessarily do a bad job but that doesn't change the fact that his vocal style is still fucking annoying. I wouldn't be able to stand hearing him perform any of their old stuff live.

Overall I can't say I hated this album even though I was ready to. It was a decent effort I guess. Some of their old fans might actually enjoy it quite a bit and I wouldn't blame them. I would almost rate it a 6 but I know I'll never want to listen to this a second time. I still can't get past the feeling that Rene poisoned the well over recent years and there's no going back from that.

I understand and agree with you. But, the thing is, Equilibrium (2003-2016) is one of my favorite bands. And it seems that this dooms me to listen to all their new releases. On the one hand, I didn't expect anything good from the new album, but there was still some hope, because René is always René, and there's always a chance that he comes up with something new, similar to what I liked in his previous albums. Even on Renegades, there are several songs I'm ready to listen to again. Unfortunately, Equinox turned out to be even worse than its predecessor, and despite a some return to folk, the result is disappointing.

It's hard to believe that this is the same band that made "Sagas".

This is the first I've listened to this band in years and it's definitely not the band I remember. It seems they've gone through a lot of line-up changes and since and with that their style has drastically altered. Unfortunately for me it's not for the better, the folk elements have been substantially reduced, and the songwriting and melodies don't really appeal to me. It seems like standard generic melodeath to me, nothing wrong with that direction if people are happy with them taking that route of course, but I much prefer their older material. It seems to have had rave reviews on other sites so I thought I'd give it the benefit of the doubt but I'm having to side with the majority of people here.

I've listened to it several times and wanted to give a more objective opinion, but it's complicated knowing that in the past they were so epic and different, which makes it a real problem for their current sound. Maybe if they formed another band with a different name, it would work better and there wouldn't be so many people disappointed, and with good reason.

First Equilibrium album I hear since 2014's Erdentempel which I really liked but this...just, what the Hell...? Also, that production is horrid

This form of existence of Equilibrium it”s like Yngwie Malmsteen decadence.

I love Sagas, one of The best récords I ever bought. This is not the sane Equilibrium.

I gave this álbum try. Titee or four times. Sorry, expected something different and verter.
