Fatum Elisum's Fatum Elisum showcases a blend of Doom and Death, with hints of Black thrown in. A mix of old My Dying Bride and Deinonychus, roughly put. The similarity with the latter of the two comes forward mostly through the vocalist, who squeals, shrieks and howls as Marco Kehren did during his metal days. Fortunately he knows how to deliver a dirty-licious growl too. Riff-wise were treated to both heavy, aggressive shit but also those typically lethargic, dramatic whining leads. What sets Fatum Elisum apart from other bands in the genre is that they pack a whole deal more aggression than you're average death-ish Doom band.
Fatum Elisum is, despite not very original, a fresh and very enjoyable album. I saw them a couple of days ago at the Dutch Doom Days and they were a bit disappointing, but the studio album is a whole different story. I'm very much hoping this band crosses my path again soon, whether it is with a new album or a new gig, as they are probably only getting better with time.

Pffff, Dear God, Lucas... Yoy get always the most awesome covers. It's time you let the other guys from the staff to get nice looking albums too!!! This sounds quiet nice indeed, and this is just a demo, you say? Well, re-released but still.... The dude has a great voice, I've heard similar but it's still kind of fresh. I don't see a lot of My Dying Bride in their sound though  Well, I'm gonna check them out anyway.

The title track was playing on a radio station i listen to, Sounds like a Dearh doom version of Crowbar. The vocalist has the kind of rasp in his voice.
