Number H is a hard rockin' boogie band.

Well maybe not entirely, but at least I got your attention (or not). Whisper In Your Ear is the band's solid enough sophomore release. A sophomore release that is all about no fucking around. And no fucking around releases get no fucking around reviews.

The key to the Number H success is the mixing of heavier - almost sludgy - hard-hitting guitar riffs and solos with some softer, strongly rhythmic rock music. Driving rock anthems with soothing vocals are unmistakably the band's trademark. The whole album is fueled with distinctly down to earth songs; nothing big or bombastic, but nothing shallow or superficial either. And unfortunately including no real stand-out hits... A lost opportunity or a good thing - who will tell? ...But I digress from the no fucking around ground rule.

The weird thing with Number H is that they sound strangely familiar. Yet at the same time this record is something I just can't put my finger on - to that extent that it's starting to annoy me. Do I hear some Alice In Chains touches here and there? Is that a slight trace of Soundgarden? Even a wee tiny bit of Down maybe? Is Number H on a mission connecting all the dots between those bands? I honestly don't know, you tell me.

At the end of the day, I think I dig this band. At least I'm pretty sure I like what I'm hearing. So yeah, maybe after all this is more "booty-shaking" than relentless head-banging material - which is totally fine by me.

Metal Stormer since 2004 to 2011, returned in late 2024. Still don’t give ratings, though. The review will tell you way more than a number ever could. Just read it, disagree if you must, and we’ll yell, fight, kiss, and make up.

(Judging from their MySpace) This band sounds like a carbon copy of Soundgarden. I don't know how popular this stuff is in Europe, but the US and Canada has been pumping bands out like this since the 90's. Anybody who can't get enough of popular American 90's rock will dig this stuff, but anyone else would probably find it tediously generic. :l
