Lord Ahriman and his team consider themselves one of the last "true black metal band". Today to define Black Metal as a genre is quite hard, because of the slight differences between the stiles and the band's "philosophy". If Black Metal is satanist, full of reversed crosses and goat sacrificing, Dark Funeral are Black Metal; if it means misanthropy, no live shows, and an harsh production, they are not. Read more ›› |

Even if you?ve never heard of Dark Funeral before, you need only take one look at the cover to get a good idea of what you're getting into with Diabolis Interium. What lurks beneath is sure to be pure EVIL! One look at the track listing only confirms this, with song titles like ?The Arrival of Satan's Empire,? ?An Apprentice of Satan? and such. And yep, the photos of band members have them decked out in corpse paint, and wearing odd, black leather outfits covered in spikes. This can only be one thing, real black metal, dark and cold. Well... two reviews giving an 9 rate does not seems fair to me. I really liked this album, the best from Dark Funeral, great atmosphere and a sort of catchy black metal that feels nice with the constant speed. But an 8 would be more fair... its not that close to a masterpiece

My Black Metal exposure has been quite limited and I am trying to expand it. and this one is fast becoming a favorite of all my CD's. It sounds perfect to me.

9 ? You guys must be kidding... I have been listening to this album for many times through these years and today is my last listen, I am not listening to this anymore as I have made my final verdict, not a good album...the last 3 tracks are fillers.

Best Dark Funeral album by far. Furious songs with actual riffs and catchy melodies and the best production of any Dark Funeral album: crispy and clear, which is crucial to such a relentless sound. They really nailed the infernal atmosphere here. There are almost no dull moments. Norsecore at its peak.
---- Their old stuff is better.
